Alberto's Story
I was in a production of Guys and Dolls in which I played a small role. I played a little hockey as a goalie, but my letter was for drama. I was an average student in most subjects but I liked English. I went to Europe in 72 with a friend of min from the neighborhood. I went to high school dances but didn't go to prom.
I became involved with drugs and other things around high school age which continued through high school to about 1980. During that time, I held various jobs, nothing for long. In 76 I joined the Army until 78. I was married for less than a year just after high school with a female co-worker from McDonald's. I made it to Los Angeles where I found a place to sleep at the Union Rescue Mission. It was there that I heard the message of redemption in Jesus Christ, through the sacrifice of his life on the cross. I accepted this message and my life changed. Though I had trouble holding a job at first, I soon learned to stay at a job long-term. I was married to a girl from church and we have been together since 1980, 36 years. We have two daughters and 4 grandchildren.
I am an associate trainer for a company that sells construction cost data. I have been an interim pastor twice and have been involved in many ministries, most recently recovery ministry and Hispanic Bible Study. I hope to go to Tanzania later this year to assist missionaries in the field have a retreat.
