Alex's Story

My life has been a very interesting journey, a lot of really diverse memories and experiences that at times were incredible and happy, other times, difficult. Nevertheless, when it is all said and done, I have to say that with exception of(everything to do with and from) the early death of my first love Debra Olshan), truly my first love, who I met in, and married right after college, Other than this life altering event (and the years thereafter) , I would not change a thing, as this road has given me priceless volumes of memories and experiences. Debbie and I have 2 children together, a son Jarett, now 27, and Cali, now 24. Since their mom past away in 1992, when they were 6 and 9 , Jarett & Cali and I have been extraordinarily close and connected to this day. They are truly exceptional souls and Debbie is clearly not only a great part of their genetics, but of their soul as well. It was hard to ever imagine life feeling normal again. As it always does, life moved on, and the Universe had me meet someone special to round off our trio. For the past 18 years, my partner/spouse/other half, Tom and I have been living a truly unique, and I would put it, incredibly excellent, yet exhausting life. We live in North Western New Jersey, I¿d say about 30 miles drive from the Millburn, N.J the area where I went to High School and Graduate School, and about 240 miles southeast of undergraduate school. (For all those who actually care about the geography ;). Together, we¿ve share the loving experience of raising our children, ,seeing them off to college and into their own adulthoods, and proudly seeing both of our children grow to be successful in each of their career goal. Jarett in the entertainment media field ( Being the youngest Senior editor of in Touch weekly magazine to be stolen away by The New York Post o oversee a new website version of NY TIMES PAGE 6., and Cali to follow her heart and become successful in both fields of Animal Science and Professional Gourmet Pastry Creations. .I suppose labels us empty nesters, but just in tim...Expand for more
e to plan a wedding, brcause this year our daughter CALE BECAME ENGAGED, to an excelle=ant man. Now once again I am excstatic, becasue our family once again is growing!, and I still love throwing parties. (As my S.U friends may remember ¿.) Professionally, I have grown and changed quite aot, which is always a plus kind of experience. IT has evolved my life so. Right out of college, I came on board my family business, which meant I had to quickly learn both the operations and management of running 2 international businesses in the field of paper manufacturing drying systems. I remained Vice President of these companies for almost 16 years while opening a third business while receiving a landscape design degree for interior and exterior landscape and plantscape design to feed my more creative side. Ultimatelt my calling to what¿s called the helping profession was oo strong and I sold or relieved myself of all interests of these businesses, and entered graduate school in the field of psychology. I changed careers in my 30's going back to Graduate School for 2 degrees in the fields of Indiviual Counseling Psychology, and Marriage & Family Counseling and Psychotherapy. This led me into a wonderful experience in the helping profession, from psychiatric rehabilitation field to mental health counseling center work, and brought me finally into becoming owner and director of a private counseling and psychotherapy center/practice in Far Hills, N.J. As I have said, life has been full of many twists and turns/ups and downs. But, would not have changed anything in this vein. Life has been a great ride so far, even with the newest challenges it has put in my path. I honestly Hope you are all well. Would really enjoy hearing from old friends. I am certain we all have much to catch up on NOTICE FOR COLLEGE FRIENDS OF DEBRA OLSHAN If anyone is also looking for Debra or Debbie Olshan, originally from Fort Lee, New Jersey, please give me a shout too. We did get married right after school, and I would be happy to return your contact. Thanks
