Alexander's Story
Angelita and I had a second reunion with the Marks families in St.Agathe in summer 2005 and toured the expanding SAHS then visited St.Jerome and an also expanding Laurentia High School with Louis Ward and Linda Moseley(Mowat-Chalu) where we found that most if not all of the students were now francophones. Had a delicious sandwich at Schwartz' on my birthday and then toured the Aviation Museum in Ottawa before heading home on the Trans-Canada through beautiful fall colours. If only it didn't take three days to drive to Quebec and three to get back home.
In 2009 Angelita was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We were able to complete a Baltic cruise together and upon our return she entered hospital for chemo treatment. She died less than three months after diagnosis in hospice in Calgary.
In 2013 I returned to St.Agathe for Carolyn Kelly's funeral in the Anglican church and met her friends and brother John's family and sister Teresa accompanied by the Marks. Another sad but now familiar saga in my life in that beautiful town.
Later that year I came back again to visit Stevie and Sue Marks and m...Expand for more
et Sue's sister Cheryl and two of Cory De Wilde's nieces who informed me that she had died of breast cancer - unfortunately the story goes on. I came back again in the fall to show my new friend Patti Falconer the leaves, taste a Schwartz sandwich and tour my many former dwellings in Quebec. Life goes on.
Was in Toronto in May 2014 for a week helping Patti and the crew develop the Miss Universe Canada pageant.
It's now 2016, I've managed to hold onto Patti and continue to play grand pianos at her pageants most recently a Yamaha concert 10 footer in a synagog hall. I'm getting pretty good I'm told, that Yamaha seemed to play itself, so inspirational. No funerals so far this year in Quebec but I almost ended my trip by falling off my roof onto the cement driveway last October. All healed now and I advise everyone to wear a harness when climbing heights, it happens so fast. I had eight fractures, spent two months in hospital but oddly I found it very interesting and emerged no-longer needing statins, blood pressure medication and got my tailbone screwed together so no more back pain, who knew?
