Alf's Story
When I was in law school at UC Berkeley, 9th Circuit Judge Betty Fletcher urged us to "follow our bliss." It took me a few years to discovery "my bliss," which is California water policy. Today, I serve as the California State Assembly's expert on water law and policy, having just completed a fundamental reform of California water policy (2009).

LA firm, political campaign, non-profit, Department of the Interior (as a water lawyer). Along the way, water policy kept calling me - at UCLA, Berkeley, young lawyer serving as Mayor Tom Bradley appointee on Metropolitan Water District board. In the meantime, I got married to Kristin Smith and we had our first child. We decided to move to Sacramento/Davis, so I could pursue my interest in water and I found my calling, and fulfillment at work and home.
