Alicia's Story
I have been married to my husband Michael for nearly 7 years now. I am still the Director of TBI Raiders and am working on doing what I can to help those with a Traumatic Brain Injury in rural communities. It's mostly through advocating but I finally have put a presentation/proposal together that I believe will benefit the state. I have been selected to go speak in London (June), Amsterdam (August), Philadelphia (September), and Paris (October). I will be speaking on what I have put together that I have been trying to start in Stillwater. I want to take a student athlete with me from OSU so they can learn how to help fellow athletes and students. School
I attended Wellston all throughout elmentary to my senior year. I was able to graduate with my class even after being in a car accident and missing school, that's why they invented summer school (lol). I was very active in clubs, band, and colorguard. in dance over in Chandler growing up. I finished fourteen years of dance my senior year of school.
College
I started college the Fall of 99 at Rose State College. I took a break the Fall of 03 and the first eight weeks of the Spring of 04. The second eight weeks of that spring and first eight weeks of the Fall of 04 I went back to finish some stuff for my degree. I my Associates in Science in February of '05. Then I took five years off from school. I never thought I would be able to get a bachelor's degree until Michael talked about him potentially going back to school and encouraging me to do the same. I am presently working on getting a BA in Science. I should walk in graduation either in the Fall of 2011 or the Spring of 2012. Then I'll finish up with an internship.
Workplace
I'm the director of TBI Raiders. A volunteer service and online community with the goal of not just helping but also seeing that students who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury succeed in school and life.
