Alisa's Story

Life In 1992 I married my high-school sweetheart and we had two children together. Unfortunately, we grew apart and in 2003 we divorced, but remain friends. We're committed to not making the same mistakes we've seen several of our friends who have divorced made, and we put the kids first above our own needs. They've done very well so far. My son, Anthony, will graduate from high school in June, and my daughter, Kory, will graduate next year in June, 2011. I've worked for Blue Shield for the past 20 years and love it. It also happens to be where I met my husband, Micah. We married in June, 2008 and I never knew life could be so wonderful until we met. I'm truly blessed. I haven't been too great about keeping in touch with friends from high school, but love hearing from people I went to school with. Both of my older brothers (Scott, class of 82 and Russ class of 84) live close to me here in Woodbridge. My parents still live in the same house and are the best parents a girl could ask for. ;) Workplace I wish I had finished college and received a degree so I could be a psycholigist or maybe even a psychiatrist, but I didn't! Although I love my job as an analyst now, I think I missed my true calling as a criminal psychiatrist. I'd love to know what makes people tick. I am a Business / Systems Analyst in the IT department of Blue Shield where I have worked since 1989. The company has been really good to me. Sometimes I have to work really long days, but I don't ...Expand for more
mind. Since I work from my home office now, I am home when the kids get home from school and it is working out really well. I did enroll at the Phoenix of University in an attempt to get my degree, but work and school and parenting takes it's toll. I don't know if I'll ever finish! Contratulations to those of you who made it through and got your degrees. At one class per semester, it might just be 2025 before I graduate. Heck, my kids will probably graduate from college before I do! I like to put in my ear-plugs and listen to my ipod. The type of music I listen to depends on my mood. My son is in a "grunge band, so sometimes when I really need to work out, I listen to his band. My hero? She'd be surprised to hear this, but one of my former directors, Mindy. She has a way of telling people exactly what they need to hear, whether good or bad, without causing friction. She's very smart, has a good head on her shoulders and is an excellent mentor. Awesome woman. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is AnaLisa Gomez, because I miss her. Haven't seen her since high-school.. Still dress like I did 10 or 20 years ago? HECK no. The 80's remind me of Molly Ringwald and the like. I hated the clothes and the music and just about everything about that era. Oddly enough though, my husband is a huge fan of 80's music, so like it or not, it's still a part of my life! In 10 years, I hope to be a college graduate. I'm going to get there slowly but surely..
