Alisa's Story
After graduating, I moved out with my boyfriend,(not the brightest move)of 3 years. That only lasted 2 more years, then I shared an apartment with a girlfriend for 2 more years, then my brother for 2 more years, until meeting the man I have now spent 22 years and had two wonderful and healthy kids with. My daughter, Lyndsey 19 and my son Bradley who is 14. In 1992, I attended Shoreline Community College, Lk. Wash.Tech, and North Seattle Community College where I finished with an A.A.S. degree. (Health and Sciences)then went to Pima medical Institute where I received my Dental assistant Certification. I completed my Externship at A dental office near the Zoo in 1995 and continued to work for the same dentist for years. After raising our kids in the same house (oh those teen years, and oh, it's creeping up again, but not as much, thank god!!) we've decided it's time to move on. We own an Electrical contracting business that's been going pretty strong since we started in 1994. I do the payroll and invoicing and occassionally climb ladders, pull wire, and do trim work. We are now getting ready to sell our home and move on to the next phase of our lives. 22 years of remodeling in the same...Expand for more
house though, means lots of loose ends to finish, ripping down wallpaper and painting! Right now we are thinking of renting or buying a home somewhere in the South Sound area so that Eric will be closer to our Property on Harstine Island and establish our business there while we build a house. We want to leave something nice for our kids to enjoy. We want to start building a 3-bedroom house on it soon, and continue to grow Oysters, clams and mussels. Ymmy! We have 6 acres of property, much of it hasn't been timbered yet, but there's alot of potential.I do want to stay close enough though to be able to commute to Seattle to visit my parents and close friends, and maybe, see Bradley attend Roosevelt High in the Fall of 09. Right now, my daughter is o.k. with the move, since she's old enough to move out on her own, but my son on the other hand is not happy about it. he has established new friends in his middle school years, and all are going to Roosevelt high school in the Fall. Things are pretty confusing, so we'll see how everything pans out when our house goes on the market. Who knows? I may end up back in Seattle somewhere, where my comfort zone is. I hear that, "Change is good"
