Alison's Story
Life
Hi everyone! After NNHS I attended Michigan State graduating in '93 with a BA in French. I swam on scholarship my first year before giving it up for other adventures. I became a scuba instructor and did a lot of solo traveling around the world (Fiji with Jean-Michel Cousteau, Australia for Great White Sharks,the Great Barrier Reef, and other fun places in Oz, Europe many times to study French, throughout the Caribbean, worked in the Florida Keys-just to name a few). I attended North Central to become a certified teacher when I was home and eventually moved to Hilton Head SC when my dad decided to retire there. I spent 2 yrs there teaching before moving to Columbia SC to be closer to my then boyfried, and grad school. ght hs French, was a drug counselor, and finally directed an afterschool program before gladly giving it all up to start a family. Our son was born Jan '02 and we are expecting a little girl in July '05. We live just outside Columbia SC on a large lake where we spend our weekends boating. My dad has places in Hilton Head and in Lake Lure NC (filmed Dirty Dancing & Last of the Mohicans there) so we can enjoy the beach and mountains any time we wish. My brother lives 15 mins away which is great for babysitting. For those of you that knew my mom, she passed away a month after 9/11 (few months before our son was born) from cancer. My dad, son, and I make an annual trip back to Naperville to visit family friends, usually in May. This year we are putting it off until OCt with the baby coming.
