Allan's Story
02/24/16 - Widower. After high school - 3 years US Army, combat engineer (1 year Ft. Lewis, Washington, 1 1/2 years Darmstadt, Germany) out 1966. Attend Valley College and graduated East Los Angeles College, engineering technology, 1971. Surveying career, California Division of Highways in '68 to '73, Married 1971, moved to Colorado 1973. Worked in private sector in Colorado (Dillon, Boulder and Brighton CO). Divorced in 1974 Land Surveyor license in Colorado, 1975. Married again 1977 - 3 kids. Widower 1998. Self employed beginning spring 1994. Retired as of October 2012. Retired is GOOD!
UPDATE 6/23-2022 - Still getting along well. Getting to be an old man though. Have lived in the same house for 45 years as of last April. A friend that lived 3 houses from me moved to assisted living last week. She lived here when I moved into my house. Only one person, a widower, has lived on this block longer than me. BE WELL ALL!

patio most mornings.. This has been a warm fall in Brighton CO. after a cool wet spring. I couldn't get my garden going in the spring because it was so cool. I think I will plant more flowers and fewer vegetables next year. Be well all. Get out and do some walking - it will do you good!
UPDATE 5-10-25 Still going. Got my seedlings started for my garden this summer. I will be planting next week. The garden is not as big as in past years. Staying home mostly now. Continue living by myself. I didn't renew my land surveyors license last year. I still have my surveying instruments but haven't turned them on since the last day of September 2012. I don't miss working. Happy to be retired. I made sour dough bread this morning. Haven't bought bread at the store for many years.Taking care of my house and rental house is all the work I need now. I don't go for long walks any more. I have arthritic knees. I keep the pain tolerable by exercises recommended by a physical therapist. Knees will never get better. Hope all is well with you all.
