Allison's Story
Life
I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2000 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. I didn't like that much, though, and moved into a career in IT. It's more interesting and pays better =).
After college, I moved back home for about a year while starting my first real job in Northern Virginia. A year later, in June of 2002, I moved to Atlanta, and that's where I've been since.
While in college, I discovered a few interesting sports such as caving and backpacking. I love to travel, and I am always driving or flying somewhere.
I have a cat, and an Australian shepherd. I'm not married yet, but I'm in no rush either. I'm too ansy to stay in one place too long.
College
Virginia Tech, baby! Go HOKIES!
My sophomore year in college, I joined the VPI Cave club and met a lot of cool, wild people, while the rest of the world kind of dissapeared off my radar screen - it's a tight-knit community. Lots of fun. My fellow cavers became my core group of friends and fellow troublemakers. I met Mike through the club and we dated for m...Expand for more
ost of my college years, but it wasn't meant to work out and I called it quits when I moved back to MD.
Blacksburg will forever hold a special place in my heart. I love that town, and I miss it alot. I lived off campus year-round for four years, and school became very peripheral to my existance there - it was a job I had to complete to be able to stay and hang out with my friends. I miss the mountains, and town, and friends. I miss town in the summer when the students were gone and we had the town to ourselves (or so it seemed). If I could have a career and live there, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I got my first IT job by chance, working for the College of Engineering's Dean's Suite, and discovered I liked it alot. In fact, I liked it alot more than the engineering crap I was studying, so I decided to make a career of it. I finished the degree because I knew I would need it later in life, but for the last 3 semesters, I had no intention of following through with a career in it. It has turned out to be a good decision for me. =)
