Allison's Story
School
I have fond memories of both Mortons Gap Elementary School and South Hopkins High School. I'm sad that neither exist today. I had a good time in high school, especially my junior and senior years and I enjoyed playing on the softball team.
College
High school was fun, but college was a blast! I went to Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, KY. Although it was a strict, Christian college, I met the most amazing bunch of girls. We all fit together perfectly. We may have partied a little too much, but no regrets! I loved college and wish I were still there! Went to Western Kentucky University to get my master's degree in English with a Teaching English as a Second Language concentration. Now, I am working on my second master's degree at the University of Louisville with hopes of becoming a speech-language path...Expand for more

Workplace
After graduating college, I moved to Louisville, KY. My first job was a therapist for a private company called Behavioral Intervention For Autistic Children (BIFAC). We provided in-home therapy with am emphasis on early communication and behavior intervention. It was a great, although sometimes stressful, job, but it was very rewarding! I became really close with my children and their famililes. Then my husband and I moved to Bowling Green, KY where I worked at Head Start with children who have disabilities. It, too, was a good job, but did not pay well. After filing for divorce, I moved back to Louisville and took a job with Home of the Innocents as an autism intervention specialist (similar to my job with BIFAC). I recently had to quit, however, as I am enrolled full time in medical school at UofL.
