Alys's Story
Life
After graduating from Olympic High School in 1987, I left for college at NC State. Lisa Bradley was my roommate for the first semester. I occasionally ran into other Trojans on campus - Christine Flanagan, Mereth Beal, Amr Suede, Ed Barber, Susan Fodel... Met my husband in 1987 on a blind date, but didn't start dating seriously until 1989. Graduated from State with a BA in Accounting in May, 1991 and began working for Coopers & Lybrand in Charlotte in September, after spending the summer in Hilton Head. Got my CPA license. Married my husband Kurt in 1993 and moved to Orlando, FL, where we spent a fun three years traveling all over the state. Moved back to Charlotte (Steele Creek - go Seahawks!) in 1996 and don't plan on ever leaving again. Even my husband, who is from NJ, loves it. 8) and Morgan (born in 2001) who attend Winget Park Elementary and are very involved in SCAA athletics. We are members of Good Shepherd UMC. I now work for my brother-in-law's small CPA firm as a consultant/auditor. I love telling people that not only am I a Charlottean, but a Steele Creek native as well. My husband is a home builder, and we will be moving any day now into a new house that he is building for us in RiverPointe. Last weekend I drove my family by my parents' old house on Withers Road and told them about the HUGE party we had there in high school. My kids thought it was a great story and now they know why their parents will NOT be going to Europe without them while they are in high school! I have recently had a great time planning our OHS 20th year reunion and hope we have a good turn out. It should be lots of fun!!
