Amanda's Story
Life
I am happily married to a wonderful man named R. Scott Cantrell. We met in a show in 2005, dated, married in 2009. We have two corgis- a 7 year old Pembroke named Finnegan, and a 14 year old Cardigan named Lester. I am a high school English teacher in Manokotak, Alaska. I taught for several years in Garland ISD, and had a lucrative acting career in the DFW area, but traded it in for a small Yup'ik salmon village on a mountain. It's am amazingly beautiful place. We love it! You can follow my blog at alycantrell.worpress.com.
College
Immediately after high school I attended KD studio where I graduated in September of 2000 with an Associates of Arts in Acting and Performing. I worked for 2 years before deciding to return to school. I started back at Richland while I completed my contract at the Theatre Center and then decided to attend Texas A&M-Commerce. I was a double major in Theatre and Speech Communications with teaching certification in both areas. I am a member of Alpha Psi Omega (theatre honor fraternity), Alpha Chi (Hon...Expand for more
or fraternity), Alpha Sigma Lambda (non-traditional studnet honor fraternity), recieved the Outstanding Undergrad in Speech Communications Award and was the 2004 Mayo Scholar. The Mayo scholar is the most prestigious title and scholarship that the university gives out. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2005. In 2008 I graduated Amberton University with my Master of Science in Human Relations and Business, which is a business communications degree.
Workplace
I worked as the Patron Services Manager for the Dallas Theatre Center from 1999-2002. I worked at Le Theatre de Marionette as lead puppeteer from 1999-2003. I acted in several community theatres and was a troupe member with Keith and Margo's Murder Mystery company for 7 years. I taught English, theatre, and speech in Garland ISD at The Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School and at Sam Houston Middle School where I built the theatre program.
