Amanda's Story
Life
After graduation, I moved to Hammond, LA to go to Southeastern Louisiana University. It's a great little town...without the university, it really wouldn't be much. In '95, I moved back to KY and finished my degree at UofL. I have two children: Ian (2002) and Sydney (2004).
College
People in New Orelans have a saying...Laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll). My roommates and I embraced this philosophy whole-heartedly. We worked as hard as we played lest we lose the sweetest accomodations on campus. Gotta love it when the honors dorm is co-ed by suite (not floor) and located smack in the middle of the three biggest fraternity houses on campus. Suffice it to say, life was never dull. New Orleans were regular - especially when we got bored with the clubs in and around Hammond. Trips to Baton Rouge were also pretty common - to tailgate (LSU football - GEAUX TIGERS!!), for concerts, you name it.
I moved back to KY in '95 for personal reasons, and landed at UofL. The last year of college was a blur - full time classes and two jobs (working ~50 hours/week), it couldn't end soon enough for me.
Workplace
Following graduation from U of L, I went to work for the Cabinet for Health & Family Services (CHFS) in Henry/Trimble Counties as an investigator for Child Protective Services. After working in the Office of the Ombudsman for 7 years, I recently accepted a promotion to the DCBS Commissioner's Office.
