Amanda's Story
Most of you remember me as the weird, Spice Girl obsessed, band geeky, marching to the beat of my own drum kind of girl. Oh how things have changed...
After high school graduation, and the trip to Europe...I attended Prairie State College for 4 years...in which I ditched class 9 times out of 10 and ended up on Academic Dismissal. (Sad, but true). This caused a strained relationship between my parents and myself, forcing me to find a full time job so I could pay rent to my folks (which was put into a savings account to be returned to me at a later date). I began a job at McDonald's in Beecher, opening the store as a manager (which was shocking considering I'd never managed a store before, and never worked at Mickey D's either). my fiance, Dave. After a few years of that job, being transfered from store to store, and becoming the midnight supervisor over 5 stores, I decided it was time to move on up. I was hired on as an Auxillary Police Officer in Beecher, as well as was hired on as a 911 dispatcher at Eastcom, which is a place that dispatches for Beecher, Monee, Peotone, Crete, and University Park Police and Fire departments (total: 11 agencies!). As of 2008, I've been doing both for 2 years, and loving every minute of it. Dave and I are still together...(though we're keeping our options open at this point) and I'm slowly rebuilding on the things I screwed up on over 8 years ago.
Everybody makes mistakes! I'm just glad I caught mine early on, and now have job security.
