Amy's Story
Life
After my 7 years at MSU (hadn't gotten enough of the place when I finished in 95 so I stuck around for 4 years of vet school) I moved to Indiana. The first few years in practice were rocky, but thanks to a group of very good people I'm one of the few vets who stuck with my first practice. Amazingly, after 9 years there are still a few clients who ask if I'm new. Tony and I met in a humanities class in college and married in 2002. September of 2006 I had retaken the GRE and started to apply for graduate programs when we learned that I was pregnant. In June of 2007 we welcomed our son, Grayson. d a great transition to being a family of four. It's wonderful seeing Tony as a father and we're hoping to find our new normal someday.
I still enjoy reading and my favorite writers are Charles deLint and Diane Ackerman, although there are many, many runners up. I actually do more magazine reading now. I always read Orion cover to cover and Parents and Wonder Time are my new must reads. As far as music goes, Dar Williams, the Violent Femmes, Van Morrison, Gorillaz, Delerium and Beethoven are all on my iPod. My favorite surgery is removing bladder stones. I love getting to work with leopard geckos and cockatoos. I would still like to go back to grad school, but life with my family is good right now.
