Amy's Story
How are you all doing? Here is a little about me since my young, skinny days:
I live north of Willard, MO. I am happily married to Darrin and have 2 very handsome sons: Elijah, age 30, and Cody, age 24.
My husband, Darrin, and I are very active in church. (Believe it or not!) God does perform miracles! LOL!
The thing most people would find surprising about me: We own 2 farms. We run a cow/calf operation. Yes, I work on the farm. I'm not the prissy girl I was in high school. I was even the general contractor when we built our home. (I didn't make the general's wages, though.) My dad always thought it was funny that I work cattle, bale hay, walk (and sometimes fall) in cow manure! It's a smelly job but somebody has to do it. Next time you eat that thick, juicy, tender, steak or burger, think of us and the hard work and sweat and broken bones that went into making a delicious cut of beef for you to enjoy! You could be eating the cow that broke my arm and wedding ring!
I am an Independent Insurance Agent because I didn't have enough to keep me out of trouble!
Darrin and I became grandparents in August of 2008. We have a very handsome grandson, Alex. We also have a beautiful granddaughter, Cailyn, who is the light of our lives and keeps us young.
I have had 3 major losses in the last few years: I lost my mother in March of 2017, dad very suddenly in January of 2008 and my brother, Brian, in January of 2005. I still have not even begun to get over either loss. I know that Brian is better now and no longer in pain. ...Expand for more
He beat cancer after all! I know that many of you knew Brian. He was the loving, funny guy he always was all the way to the end. I look forward to a great family reunion one of these days! It doesn't get better, it just gets a little easier over time when you lose someone you love.
My current age is old..... When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be 88. I was so completely right!
My friend would tell you I'm fun and goofy. We are often referred to as Lucy and Ethel. (I won't admit to being the one to get us into messes but she calls me Lucy). People who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet.
My favorite way to relax after a hard day is to take a trip into the past with good Christian or historical romance book!
My first job was at Skateland, where I got paid didly-squat to work at the snack bar. What I remember most about it is the friends I made and the practical jokes we played on each other. I also remember the Mac-sauce and shake fights we would get into after work when I worked at McDonald's.
If I had one do-over, I would not take the time I have with my friends and family for granted. I would always have my camera to take lots of pictures and a notebook to write down stories. You can never get back lost time!
I hope that all is well with everyone! Send me a note to let me know what is going on with you.
