Amy's Story

Life Hello Everyone! After graduating from high school I went directly to DACC. I received my AS and transfered to EIU. I graduated from EIU in December 2000 with a BA in Psychology. After graduating from EIU I took a 6 month "break." On June 20th 2001 I started working as a Crisis Intervention Counselor at Crosspoint Human Services. I love my job, I can not imagine doing anything else right now. Bad news, I lost my Mom on September 15, 2004, she was my life, my biggest fan. On that day my life changed forever. Luckly I had really good friends to help me through. If it weren't for Natalie, I would have never left my house. For that I am always greatful. I have a miny pomeranian, Tede Belle. She is my baby, she is NOT spoiled, eventhough others think she is. I don't really think anything else is really new. We closed the ice cream stand. I see Natalie and Bryan everyday, I e-mail TR and Stephanie off 'n on, I see Justin Slade in the ER alot. -Hey Justin wanna take a trip to McFarland for me?- My Arlen is 13 years old and Rhylee is 8 years old. I decided that instead of turning 30, I am going to figure a way to turn back time and be 29 again. I don't like the Big 3-0. School Class of '94 Rules!! Oakwood High School, what is there to say. Those whom graduted from Oakwood all have great memories. Who can ever forget building the senior class Homecomming float, or the crazy stuff we did to raise money for Sadie Hawkins week (like me and Natalie buying Mr. Nixon as a slave for the day). ...Expand for more
Who could ever forget the fights, or my crazy driving. High School was a great time in my life, if it wasn't for Oakwood I would have never met my best friend, Natalie. Go Comets! College EIU what can I say. I drove everyday for 2 years to Eastern from Danville. Thankfully, Natalie would make us study on the drive down. We had some good times on and off campus, especially driving or attempting too. I will never forget my first semester at Eastern. I never went to class, I stayed in LuAnn's dormroom and watched TV or went shopping at Wal-Mart. It's amaizing how I graduated with a B average. My favorite class was with Dr. Williams and the rats. I loved those rats. I'm glad I graduated, but at times I miss the whole school thing. Workplace I've made it five and half years as a Crisis Counselor at Crosspoint. I am the longest working Crisis team member ever. Looks like I will still be working with the Crisis Team for a long time to come. I have no plans on leaving, but who knows. I tell my co-workes that I am planning on retiring in November after bonus time. I have made wonderful friends/co-workers. I love my job, and always will, no matter whom my supervisor is. As of February 2003 Bryan Manion became my supervisor. He is really cool, kinda wish I would have known him in High School. In August of 2004 Bryan switched positions at Crosspoint, he's no longer my supervisor. In May 2004 my best friend, Natalie Liggett, joined the crisis team. In December 2005 she became crisis supervisor.
