Amy's Story
Workplace
On January 5, 2006, I was laid off from my job of almost 20 years - I started in my Junior year of high school. I returned to work after not only one, but three major back surgeries (persistence, dedication, and determination are unrewarded). My condition is degenerative and it was unknown if I would be able to work for six more days, six more months, or six more years - I just thought that I would be the one to determine when my career was over.

fer, but my physical disabilities are very visible and thus I'm very self-assured that another employment opportunity will not present itself.
So this is the status of my "workplace". I have submitted a few resumes but if I do not secure employment in the next two months, I'll have no choice but to apply for SSDI. The ironic part of it all is is that I could have justified disability after my first surgery in 2003. As I said... persistence, dedication, and determination are unrewarded.
