Amy's Story
I was in the last class to graduate from Westfir High in 1967. I married Gus (Herb) Roose in 1968. We were married for two weeks and he went to Vietnam for a yr. When he got out of the Navy he went to Oregon State U. and became an electrical engineer. I finished beauty school while he was in the service and then we both worked part time to get him through school. He got a job with Pacific Power in Portland. We lived in Vancouver, WA until 1978. That Nov. we moved with our 8yr old and 3yr. old girls, to Glenrock, WY. Our oldest, Sarah is the only one that still lives in WY. Annie and Leigh live in CO and we are now building a house in Delta, CO and will retire there. I quit the beauty bus. and went into grounds keeping and landscaping. I was the groundskeeper at the school here for 17yr. and then was a greenskeeper...Expand for more
at the golf course for 10. I decided to retire and just stay home and take care of our own house and yard. The Wind has been horrible this year so I'm looking forward to not spending another winter here. I wish all you Westfir people would write about yourselves so I can find out a little more about your lives since the good old Westfir days. Well since I wrote this a few yrs ago things have changed. Now that we are settled in CO all of our girls now live in WY. They may have moved to get away from us! Actually, they want us up there and since we have a house in St. George, UT for the winter we will probably sell our place here and go back to WY where we don't have to pay state income tax! We have eight grandkids and they are all in WY so we want to at least be able to see them grow up so am anxious to get settled AGAIN!
