Andrea's Story
I have had an amazing life. After earning my bachelor and master's degree, I moved to San Francisco where I taught in Chinatown and Japantown. My class was featured on the cover of Travel and Leisure despite the fact the 49ers won the Super Bowl and were on page 2. I was a representative and officer for the California School-Age Consortium meeting with representatives in Congress to support school-age children in California. eachers how to be literacy coaches. On this basis, I was hired as an adjunct professor at Barry University teaching college juniors and seniors diagnostic reading. But my greatest pleasure in all of this was the 15 years I volunteered for the Barbara Bush Celebration of Reading event. I had the honor of working with the past president and his wife to celebrate all the strides we made in promoting literacy in the state of Florida. I ended my career as a middle school counselor and no, I did not measure how high skirts were above the knee as Mrs. Janney did to us. I distinctly remember Bonnie B and Bonnie W driving me home in the driver's ed car to change.
