Andree's Story
Life
After graduating from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Il, I joined the Navy. The Navy trained me to be a Aerographers Mate (weather observer) and sent me to Florida, New Jersey, California, New Zealand, Antarctica, Guam and back to California, Monterey to be exact. Along the way, I married a fellow Aerographer.
We loved Monterey, so we got out of the Navy and stayed. I started college majoring in math. We had one child, a boy, Jaimeson. The marraige fell apart, I managed to finish school and started working as a technical writer. Jaimeson finally graduated high school in 2001, to keep from killing him I just don't talk to him. All the while that I went to school and worked as a technical writer, I was in the Navy Reserves, still am. I'm a Senior Chief Petty Officer, I was recalled for Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom. That gave me the money I needed to go back to school and follow my dream of becoming a math teacher.
I just recently took a job teaching junior high school math in a small town in the central valley of the California. Eighth graders are challenging but I really like it. I'm also going to graduate school to get a Masters in Education.
But, I don't live to work, I work to live. And by living, I love camping and backpacking and just being outdoors. California is great for that!! And if you haven't been to Yosemite, ya gotta go!!
