Andy's Story
Life
After graduating from high school in 1983, I attended Texas Southmost College (AKA Tamale Tech) for a year and half. I then embarked on a journey that would change the course of my life forever. In November of 1984 I entered the United States Army and proudly served for 20 years. As a member of the US Army Medical Service Corps, I had the opportunity to train as a Combat Medic initially and then a Respiratory Therapist. My tours of duty included Germany (Hahn Air Base, C Battery, 6th of the 56th Air Defense Artillery), Fort Lewis (Tacoma, WA, A Company, 209th Forward Support Battalion), Fort Sam Houston (San Antonio, TX E Company, 232nd Medical Battalion, AMEDD Brigade),Fort Lee (Petersburg, VA, 85th Evacuation Hospital)Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Fort Hood (Killeen,TX 21st Combat Support Hospital and Darnall Army Medical Center), and the US Army Dallas Recruiting Battalion (Copperas Cove, TX Station - hometown of Redskins quarterback RG3. I am also a proud veteran of Operation Desert Storm (Persian Gulf War 1990-1991) and Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia-Herzegovina NATO Peace Accord 1996-1997). I continued my college education in the Army and received a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy Administration from Wayland Baptist University at Honolulu in 1995 and an Associate of Liberal Arts from Saint Leo University back in 1992. I also recently returned to college and completed another degree, this one in Business Administration from Central Texas College in Killeen. m Active Duty in 2004, I have worked in various ventures ranging from Clinical Patient Care, Management and Marketing, but I am currently employed with the Department of the Army at the Sleep Disorders Center on Fort Hood. I have been married to Janeen German of North Dakota for over 23 years and we have three of the most intelligent and beautiful daughters you'll ever meet. Julia (22) is graduating from The University of North Texas in December 2012. She's majoring in Psychology. At UNT she has maintained a 4.0 GPA and plans on continuing on into grad school in the 2013. Becca (19) is a sophomore at Texas A & M University. She is currently majoring in International Studies with an emphasis in Middle Eastern Diplomacy. She is also taking Arabic and performs with the University Symphonic Band. Monica (11) is a 6th grader and is in the gifted and talented program, band, 4-H and also plays select softball for the Cedar Park Stealth 12U Organization. She plays catcher, pitcher, shortstop, and anywhere the coach tells her to play. She's also a team captain. Since beginning softball in recreation league three seasons ago, she has found her calling. She made the All Stars all three seasons in Rec League and is now playing select ball year round. All my children are all high achievers and make me proud everyday. I ended up settling down in the small rural town of Kempner,TX look it up on a map - it does exist even though it's off the beaten path in a valley surrounded by the foothills of the Texas Hill Country.
