Andrew is from Springfield, Pennsylvania. He is married to Maureen Gallagher. He graduated from St. James High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966, was Thai linguist and intelligence analyst and served in the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in the USAFSS 6922nd Cobras. He later attended Widener University (Russian Language, Non-Western History).
