Andy's Story
LIFE:
I didn't have any career goals so didn't waste time or money going to college as suggested my Mr. Brown (Economics 101).
I moved through several jobs and volunteer work including USPS (clerk, carrier, Special Delivery Messenger, Postal Operations Administrator); AT&T & Mountain Bell <now QWEST> (operator, technical clerk,Repair Service Attendant, Senior Operations Clerk, and Customer Service Representative); Volunteer: (Sheriff & fire dispatcher, fireman, and Emergency Medical Technician, secretary-treasurer of Fire District, secretary-treasurer of fire department, & treasurer of Village Club.)
I was forced to move to the State of Misery (Missouri) thanks to AT&T's downsizing. I was finally poisoned by AT&T at work and forced into a disability retirement without benefits and receive a reduced pension because I was forced out before the 25 years needed for retirement.
I am now trapped in the State of Misery which is unfit for human habitation but am preparing to move to Alamogordo.
I was married in 1985 and my wife, Robin, was murdered at work in 1998. It is amazing that in Colorado, a human life is legally worth only $40,000! I was told that was an old law from when $40,000 was a lot of money.
Hank Dogg died of cancer 5/24/2006. I was waiting to get a new dog until after I moved. Since I am trapped here, I decided not to wait and now have Red Dogg, a Vizsla cross. Red Dogg is a smart, loving, and protective dog. She points at my meds if she thinks that I have forgotten to take them.
Red Dogg died of cancer. I wasn't in a hurry again, but waited fot the right time to adopt. After a flood in Artesia, NM, the city was executing dogs at their shelter. AVNM was doing a mass intake from there to save lives. At that time, I decided that it was time to adopt. I adopted Blondie from Animal Village N.M., a now kill rescue in Alamogordo, NM., a NO KILL RESCUE. Blondie wasn't an Artesia dog but the adoption made room for another dog.
I intensely dislike living in the State of Misery (they misspelled it as "Missouri" when the named the state) and sure would love to get back to the decent climate of New Mexico. I am working on this now. It took me over 6 years to find a house. It is very difficult to find a house that meets my requirements. One Realtor said that I am the most picky buyer she has ever had.
12/2008: Purchased a home in Alamogordo. I will move after remodeling is finished and I get packed. 5/2009: Still waiting on remodeling. Packing is very slow. Being disabled I expect packing to take 6 months to a year. After completing my normal activities, I have maybe and hour or 2 at night to pack if I am lucky. 11/2009 still waiting on remodeling and still have a lot of packing to do.
10/2012 After remodel...Expand for more
ing and 4 years of packing, we finally moved. Aardvark movers of Blue Springs, MO did the worst job of moving I ever had! a crew of 3 was unloading and the supervisor lacerated his finger so badly that I had to take him the ER. During all of this time there was only a crew of 2 who dumped items around the house and mostly in the garage at random. I couldn't find my PC and adding machine so had to buy new ones. Also hundreds of $$$ of stamps are missing in the rubble. I don't have the ability, time, or space to move all of the rubble; but did a little digging at the edges and found the leaves to the dining room table under stacks of boxes. I also found a small oak cabinet in the wrong room upside down and broken, obviously being carried by the legs. There was much more damage and destruction! I hope no one uses this company! They took advantage of me as a disabled person which is a felony in Colorado.
9/2016: Red Dogg died from cancer a few years ago. I was in no hurry to adopt until the right dog came along. But after a flood in Artesia, NM, Animal Village N.M. was having a mass intake from the Artesia shelter so I decided to adopt. I adopted Blondie who was a severe abuse case chained to a tree. Someone reported a dead dog but when animal control picked her up, she wagged her tail. After that she spent several years in kennels and it took awhile for her to adapt to living in a house. I like the climate in Alamogordo TV reception is very poos and the TV repeaters go out frequently, sometimes for an extended time! Also medical care is limited and there are very few restaurants other than fast food. I would like to live in Albuquerque but houses and property taxes there are unaffordable. About the best I can hope for is a larger house in Alamogordo to get out of this miniature house.

School:
I was the shy type and kept to mostly to myself. I was the one who rode a bicycle to school and chained it to the west fence under the trees at HHS. I wish I had been more outgoing, but that is not natural for me.
College
I went to UNM for 1-1/2 years to satisfy my mother. Since I did not have a career path that would benefit from college, I felt it was a waste of time to attend college and dropped out as soon as I was offered a job with the Post Office. (Mr. Brown, my HS economics teacher advised me that
a person could get a good paying job without wasting time on college. My mother certainally didn't agree. She was a college graduate and it didn't benefit her at all in my opinion.)
