Angel's Story
Life
Just when I get settled things change again.....
Never thought I would do it, but left NY in 1997. I miss it - the beach, the food, the friends...the familiarity.
Made a pitstop in Atlanta....got to hang with my sister (Cheeks) and made some great new friends. I also met my now husband there after 2 weeks. He lived in Michigan....
In 1999 I moved to Good Old Kalamazoo Michigan.....yes, there really is a Kalamazoo. I was there for 7 years. My husband grew up there. It was a great place to have a family - small town and safe, but I missed all that living near a large city has to offer....and of course I missed being close to the ocean.
In July 2006 we moved to Minneapolis...Most people go south...I just keep going North and West.....I love that we are near a large city and for someplace that gets so cold...the city rocks....great people, very outdoor oriented and plenty to do.
I am still working as a staff accountant for a small corporate office here.
I have been married since 1999 to John and we have one beautiful son, Spencer born in 2000. They both keep me on my to...Expand for more
es.
I still miss NY. I miss having that old network of friends that you would run into from time to time. I still stay in touch with Tara (Brett) and of course my sister is my best bud (even with her crazy Southern accent.....!)
School
Of course I would do it all over again, but with what I know now!!! Don't we all say that.
I plead the 5th on my hs crush....
I loved Mr Lawrence and Mr P - LEFT was a great experience. I wonder if they still do that trip!
College
Went to Hofstra full time right out of high school, but between partying too much and the lack of parental funding I went to work full time in 1987. Met some great people there and it was almost like college in some ways....
Continued to go to night school on and off over nine years...worked 2-3 jobs at any point in time to save for it (but still had lots of social time)...went to NYIT for a bit, but ended up graduating in 1995 from Hofstra with a degree in finance....
It feels good to have worked for my education...sometimes I wish I had it "easier" but I'm not sure I would change a thing to be honest with you.
