Angela's Story
(2007)
I now live in a community that I've come to appreciate very much, with a small town atmosphere, yet close enough to the city to work and play there. And close enough to family. I have a son (Conor) who I love more than anything and am very proud of. He pretty much makes life fun most of the time. I am also fortunate to have a job that I truly enjoy, with a rapidly growing company.
My job title has evolved to Inside Sales Manager--International and Special Accounts, with some marketing responsibilities. That's a nice way of saying I sometimes get calls from Hong Kong at 6 in the morning or proposals to write on a Saturday afternoon--although I'm not complaining at all. I get to talk to interesting people, and work from home about half the time, now, too.
My son is in Cub Scouts (among other things) and loves anything to do with Math, Science, and dinosaurs. I took took a trip with him to the Field Museum and Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago last month--highly recommended to anyone with the same interests.
Funny story, I used to think I was busy. We actually have a party or "event" scheduled every few days for the next couple of months (with the inevitable conflicts and double-booking), and camping season, music, and swim lessons are just around the corner. We take the whole "work hard, play hard" thing seriously. Ever feel like you need time off from your time off?
I'm told the scheduling gets even rougher by the time Conor will be in high school. If I don't update this post too often, you'll be able to guess what happened.
Hope this finds you well.
Update (8/17/2013):
Still living, working, praying, and playing in the same places.
Conor's now in high school, with a 4.0--I'm so proud of him! Got his braces off just in time.
He's still interested in Math and Sc...Expand for more
ience, and plans to study veterinary medicine.
I'm so lucky! I really have one of the nicest kids ever.
And yes--per my previous post--the schedule does gets rougher, but we've all adapted. Just like the sleepless spit-up and diaper days; you simply get better at managing the inevitable. :D
We're going back to Chicago for Thanksgiving, this year--plan to hit all our favorite museums!
I'm now a Business Development Manager for the same company I helped grow for the past nine years.
I'm also now a LEED GA, studying for my AP this year, with an emphasis on IAQ (mainly for laboratory controlled environments). I've continued with my foreign language studies and design work on the side.
Thanks for stopping by. I plan to post more often, and hope this once more finds you well.
Update (6/18/2016):
I just had to cancel our Disney vacation, for a happy reason! I'm starting a new Business Development career with one of my favorite companies. After more than a decade with my previous employer, I was ready for a change, and feel blessed to have finally found such a good one.
We're still living in the same place. Since my last post, the most exciting thing to happen was an injured knee I got from falling on an icy sidewalk (still recovering, 5 months later!). So, no more ice-skating :) The rest of the family has been doing very well, overall.
My son is getting ready for college, and I promised our overdue vacation will now be a high school graduation present. His dad will already be settled in his new house in Tampa by then, so Conor should have a pretty special summer to look forward to. In the meantime, I'm always short on sleep, trying to lose weight, and barely keeping up with housework--yet truly grateful for friends and family and a happy life in general. I hope this also finds you well.
