Angela's Story

Life Ok...here's my story, back in my stupid years, I got married (1994) and divorced (thank god!). I decided that I wanted to travel for a while, so, I took a trip to North Carolina and stayed there, on an 8 month long vacation! I moved back to VA and proceeded to get into as much trouble as I possible could (NOT ME!), and finally, found a job that I liked. Until June of 2000, I worked in the Service Dept of Koons Sterling Ford, assisting the Service Manager, and doing billing and warranty. The reason I left was because something more important to my life was waiting for me back in good ole NC! The love of my life, Jimmy and his daughter Deidre beckoned. So, here we are, married now for 7 years. We just bought a house in June of 02, and I just graduated from college with a degree in Health Care. Our daughter will be 13 in December, she is in 7th grade, and is doing excellent! Anyone looking to get back into touch, please feel free to let me know!!!!! School What I remember from high school was probably far from the same as everyone else. Others would probably say that high school was the best time of their lives, that they had a good time, they were in loads of clubs and activities, loads of boyfriends/girlfriends, hated this teacher or that one. I will admit, now that I'm nearly 32 years old, and now that high school is long gone, I hated getting up every day to go to a school where, when I did exist to some, it was to be ridiculed, picked on and put down. It might have mattered what you thought about me back then, but now it doesn't. I have found, after many years of wondering, that those who had their fun picking on me must have had boring lives and didn't have anything better to do. I hope that now, you have something better to do and have grown up. I hold no grudges, for the one who picked on me the most is now one of my most cherished friends. I do remember, however a few interesting times in school...managing the Freshman football team (and breaking my fingers playing catch with Aaron Georgelas on the sidelines - sorry Aaron...was it that I couldn't catch or you couldn't throw?? HA HA), earning 2 Varsity letters, the Choir Exchange trip to Canada in 10th grade, all the Homecoming dances and Prom (which I stayed at all of 15 minutes). We all have our little moments of glory, and defeat, some that stay with us for years to come, and some we forget only moments after they happen. I, however, remember more the first Friday night I got through the whole half-time show without mistakes in Color Guard more than when I got cut from Cheerleading try-outs. I remember more the dates I did go out on rather than the ones I didn't get asked for. I remember the classes I enjoyed, and the ones I hated, but I remember that in 11th grade, I skipped sch...Expand for more
ool for almost a month straight. I remember my crushes (but won't mention them), I remember the people I didn't care for, and I remember those who actually were nice to me. I will always remember my days at McLean High School, the reason I left, and will always wish that I had gone back and finished my days there. I wish I could have walked with my class to graduate, but I can't go back and change things. Would I go back if I could? Absolutely...it would be fun to see if things worked out the same way. Is there anything I would do differently? Oh yes, there's a lot that I would change...though I won't list anything. The teacher that inspired me the most was Mr. Finney. He had a sense of humor and a heart that equaled no other. If anyone truly believed that you can be and do anything, he was the one. Anyone who had the opportunity to talk to him or take one of his classes could see that he had an energy that would draw you in. His believing in me pushed me to follow my dream and talent, which lead me to a Nashville Talent Agency, and a record producer. Though I don't know where I will go from here, I know that even if I fail, I've still won. Thank you, Mr. Finney. I'll leave you with this...as Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never what you're going to get." College Instead of going to college right after high school, I decided to wait. I wanted to live life for a while. I made alot of mistakes in younger (dumber) days. If I had done things the way everyone else probably did, I would've already had my degree. But now that I have it...I feel better about myself!!! Workplace Well, over the last 11 years, I've done alot of menial work. But, of everything that I have done, my biggest enjoyment was working in Customer Service at car dealerships. I never thought that I would enjoy working on cars, or working in an environment where you shouldn't wear white because you get so dirty. I didn't actually work on cars, but I assisted customers when there was something wrong with their cars, assisted with Warranty, and did Billing. At the last dealership I worked at before I went back to college, I took a pay cut and basically, a demotion because I was a woman working in a man's world. The one thing I hate more than anything is a man who says a woman can't do a job just because SHE'S A WOMAN!!!!! I've worked hard to learn everything that I know, and the fact that I'm a woman shouldn't be an issue!!! But, since I was unable to get a job in NC in the position I was used to being in because of that fact, that's what made me decide to return to college. Now, thanks to my degree, I'm in training with a company in Florida, doing Medical Transcription from home. Thanks to them, I can make a living without ever leaving the house!!!
