Angela's Story
Life
Following wonderful years in pursuit of my place in life in high school, I found college a place to dig my heels in and mix in activities more than academics. I studied French and journalism, was magazine editor, program director for the radio station, features editor for the newspaper, and more. A brief marriage followed shortly after college, and following that were years regrouping and ensuring family matters were in order for my sick parents. Once their estate matters were out of the way, I polished off some time in corporate America. Now, I am starting to pursue more of my interests, so I feel much more alive! I just started grad school (communications) and, in 2006, became a feng shui consultant. Hooray for freedom of choices. Cheers to you, reader. This was penned August of 2006.

GWHS memories: yes, you all shaped my feelings about so many things. But I've learned more about forgiveness, laughter, and gratitude since then! :)
Tammy Strong, Eva Hibbert, Kenny Burgess, the Art Club, the English and foreign language department teachers: you all made such positive impressions on me. Thank you for contributing to education and personal development.
From Carlene Hall's journalism courses with Kim Shepherd and Deanna Hillman ... to Linda Davis' take on the Scarlet Letter ... to Tex's surprise kiss in the hall ... to Bray's clowning in etymology: "it's all good." Perspective sweetens the deal; once the...Expand for more
waters themselves were choppy as the 'outsider' I often felt I was.
Love you, miss you, hope you're doing well.
College
There were few commuters who nosed so much into campus life as I did, and I'm darned proud of it. FC's an awesome place, and I am grateful to have experienced so many facets of what it had to offer: editing for the newspaper and magazine, directing programs for the radio station, making decisions about the student-run store alongside other leadership oriented members of the Student Congress, and so much more.
FC had a fantastic J department, but there was much more to enjoy. Young Dems trips to DC and West Virginia were oh-so-memorable. The Kite Carnivals --- magnifico! Did any other campus have more Chads at that time?
Workplace
So much can change over the years; the experiences one encounters by living with a chaotic and challenging family are enormous. That said, by working in corporate positions to pay the bills can open one's eyes about priorities. Mine shifted; from 'sustain a workplace relationship to pay the bills' (while married, while helping parents, etc), it moved to 'you have a LIFE ahead of you' and 'seek opportunities which help others.' Gratefully, I'm now pursuing a master's degree and have a consulting business (feng shui and communications). I only hope many others are pursuing things YOU want, not things you 'must' do. May you be blessed with opportunities and success!
