Anita's Story
Life
My parents left Everett 4 days after graduation and took me with them, kicking and sceaming all the way. I wasn't happy about the move. I ended up in California, got a job and married Mr. Absolutely Wrong about a year and a half later. We moved to Missouri in 1976, had two sons and divorced after 12 years. I was single for about 1-1/2 years and have been married to Mr. Absolutely Right for 15 years now. I didn't start my college years until Jan 1993-nearly 20 years after high school graduation. y oldest son did, and I barely beat him. He gradated May 2002. I am the CFO at a tranportation company.
College
I didn't begin college until I was 37 years old. So needless to say, I was a non-traditional student. I took my ACT's in a room full of 17-year-olds. That was humbling. I was married with 2 children, and worked full time while I was going to school. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but completing that challenge is also one of the things I am proudest of. My advice to young people today - STAY IN SCHOOL!! Don't do it the hard way like I did. But do it anyway you have to - and it's never too late to start.
