Anita's Story

Life Since High School I worked at several jobs until I finally found what I wanted to do....Pharmacy. I also am married to a wonderful man who is a City of Peoria Firefighter. We have been married for 16 going on 17 years and have 2 sons, ages 14 and 10. We are going through the teenage years with our oldest son and now understand what my parents went through. I remember my teenage years were tough and confusing. We also have a dog, Brittany Spaniel, named Sydney...that loves to sleep in our bed and play catch with a tennis ball. My husband and I love to ride around town on his Victory motorcycle, and our whole family loves to go camping in our camper trailer. School My most memorable experience at EPCHS was being in Band. I loved marching in parades, at the Football halftime shows, and playing in the Symphonic Band. Mr. Vroman was an inspiring teacher to me and helped me break out of my "shell" by telling me that I can do it. That I have talent and to just let it out. For someone that is shy, to stand in front of your peers and play a solo was an accomplishment for me and Mr. Vroman helped me with that and for that I "Thank" him. Now, I am not so shy because of that moment. College I.C.C. is where I met my now Husband. I had a classmate that car pooled with him and she introduced me to him in the cafeteria. I kept meeting him in the cafeteria until he finally asked me out. That classmate was in our wedding as...Expand for more
a Bridesmaid, since she introduced us to each other. Workplace My first job was bussing tables at Bonanza. Remember Bonanza in the Fondulac Plaza? It's not there anymore. Then I scooped ice cream at Baskin Robbins and had fun learning to decorate ice cream cakes. My ultimate job became the one I got at ACE/OURx Drugs. That used to be in Fondulac Plaza too, but is no longer there. I became a Pharmacy Technician working along side a Pharmacist that owned the Drug store. My eyes were open to the medication field and by the time I figured that becoming a Pharmacist was what I wanted I was pregnant with our first child and I had to re-think about my priorities with my husband and I having a baby and becoming a family. I am still a Pharmacy Technician today, but with CVS/Pharmacy and have moved up in the company as there Pharmacy Trainer for the Peoria District. We have about 19 stores in the District and growing. I have about 120 Pharmacy Technicians and Interns that are under me that I am responsible for their training with our company policies, procedures, pharmacy laws, insurance procedures, and our company computer system that enables us to fill the prescription. I have also taken the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam in 2000 and become a Certified Pharmacy Technician which is a high honor in that field. I am satisfied with what I have accomplished and I am proud to work for a wonderful company like CVS.
