Ann's Story
Life
I finished two years of college, but have spent most of my married life raising children rather than working outside of the home. My two oldest, my daughters, are both married. My son, now 35, is busy working and living in Belgium. He was just recently married (July 2) to a Belgian national and plans to return to the States next spring.
I have lived in Oklahoma, Texas, England, Southern California (LA area), and Virginia (Outside DC). My husband is an Electrical Engineer and has worked for the same two companies since graduating from the U of Tulsa in 1977 after 4 years in the US Navy
Life has been good. All three children were born and raised, for the most part, in Broken Arrow. The third, my only son finished his last two years of high school in England.
June 12, 2011 -- And, so the story continues. As of June 24, 2011, Jim and I will once again be members of the Broken Arrow, OK community. We put our house in Texas on the market in May and it sold in two days!! So, BA here we come! It really is time to go home to be with family and friends.
September 3, 2012 -- I am now officially a Grandmother! Youngest daughter Melissa Ashton gave birth to a daughter at The NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Jim and I have waited 45 years for the "Grandparent Era" to start. Well, it is here now and we both fully intend to enjoy the heck out of it.
July 12, 2014 -- Life continued. They say with age comes wisdom. I hope so, because that means that all of us that are left in the class of '66 must be darned smart! I know that someone in McLain's class of '64 must be pretty smart because their 50-year reunion was totally casual. Thank goodness....Expand for more
Who wants to get dressed to the hilt when you have to show up with a cane? LOL Personally, I prefer to be comfortable rather than show off for the sake of . . . whom? Life is too short to put on airs.
What, you say, was I doing going to McLain's class of '64 50th reunion? Because my husband Jim graduated from McLain in 1964. Yes, "Memorialites", Jim and I were both "northsiders". He attended McLain and I attended Central my Sophomore year before my parents transferred me to Memorial for my Junior and Senior years. Hence my attachment to all three schools on classmate pages.
I had several good friends at McLain. Some I went to Elementary and Jr High School with, and some I met through Jim. Since we dated during his Senior year at McLain, I met his friends, and friends of theirs. Some we still have contact with and others we don't. One in particular I would really love to find. . . . . Stacy Bollwine, class of 1966. Stacy if you are out there please send me a note.
Jim and I have finally gotten settled in Broken Arrow in our newly renovated house. We built the house in 1973 living in it until our departure from Broken Arrow in 1990. When we moved back we gutted it to the studs in 2012, added on to it, and moved in on October 15th of the same year. While renovation was being completed we lived in a two-story 2100 square foot garage we had built the year before in the back of our acreage. The upstairs has an apartment which is now known as "Jim's Man Cave". I guess it is great for him since I am no longer able to climb the stairs to get up there. LOL The downstairs is his workshop and a two-car garage.
Life is great. I am blessed!
