Ann's Story

Life My life and career have been a series of transitions that began with my high school dream of writing, speaking, and traveling as an “ambassador” for sewing(!). The dream really took shape in 1984 when I was hired in Chicago as manager of public relations and training for the U.S. subsidiary of a Swiss sewing machine company (Bernina). From there I transitioned into conducting sewing seminars nationwide for a sewing-book publisher, while also freelance writing for sewing publications. After my first husband died in Detroit at Christmas in 1987 (after 6 1/2 years of marriage), I moved back to Seattle and continued speaking and writing until I tired of business travel and transitioned into writing and editing only. Through the 1990s I transitioned into other subject matter too, writing and editing for a wide range of businesses. Now, with more than 350 magazine articles to my credit, I have quit writing in favor of editing only—-specifically nonfiction books and business comm...Expand for more
unications. In 1993 I transitioned from the single life back into wedded bliss when I married Norm Gosch and moved to Tacoma. I have no children of my own, but I became a stepmother again, though the youngest of all is now 25. And get this: My stepchildren from both marriages are related to each other! How? My first husband’s first wife and Norm’s former wife are cousins to each other! Norm and I have enjoyed a great deal of travel together throughout the U.S., the Caribbean, and Europe; but our best trip of all combined a Kenyan safari, a cruise of the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean, and a tour of Luxor, Egypt, in 1998. In my spare time, I do volunteer work of various kinds and still enjoy sewing many of my own clothes. And believe it or not, I started doing weight training in 1993 and have run/walked the annual 12K Sound to Narrows “race” here in Tacoma for the last seven years! Everything in my life is great now; I'm ready to stick with the status quo for a while!
