Ann's Story

I was the awkward kid, the one who was involved in band and didn't fit in much anywhere else. At least that is what I thought. Turns out that many of us were searching for our place in life. I loved science. I loved English. I wanted to love math, but that wasn't how my brain operated. Being given a worksheet with directions didn't help me learn, I needed hands on applications or a way to visualize things. So after being a college student, a musician, a soldier, a bank teller, a sales clerk, I went back to school and got my Master's in Education. I taught for 13 1/2 years and loved it. Loved the kids. Hated the paperwork. Developed MS, as in Multiple Sclerosis, not Microsoft, although I learned that too. Had to stop teaching due to falling asleep in classes. Not a cool thing with elementary students. So there I was, needing to reinvent myself again. Began photography, resumed writing poetry. Eventually was recruited by a writing coach. I'm writing two novels at the same time, different subjects. Over achiever late in life? My husband was supposed to retire next year when we both turn 60. I'm four days old than he is, so I get the old lady comments, he gets the kid ones. We've been married 36 years as of Sept....Expand for more
2016. He spends most of his time working and I spend most of mine writing. We're supporting his father who is 80. My mother is 80 and periodically we get the two senior folks together. They seem to like each other well enough. My son and his wife still live with us because of student loans. Derek has his dream job at last, working for the federal government. They are in the basement with their three cats. My daughter, Genevieve, and her husband own their own house and two cats. I have one. I have two dogs, shiba inus. All three are seniors now. They are probably the last ones we'll share our lives with. We want to travel. We've been to places that I only dreamed about as a kid, or read about Anyone who remembers me probably remembers I was a book worm from an early age. I have a website if you want to read some short stories or poems. whiteawjwords (dot) com. Finally bought a domain name. Some of the work is good, some is okay. My real effort is in the long writing now. What a Ruckus! is almost done. The other is a sci fi without a title yet. Anyway, that is the random me. Send me a note or hello. I'm also on Facebook as Ann WJ White. whiteawj at mac dot com is my email. It would be nice to hear from you.
