Ann's Story
March 2022
Life
I was married for almost 48 years to Tom Thomas and live in Southern California. Tom died suddenly in a horrific bicycle accident on February 26, 2022. We met at a local pub at the University of Nebraska where Tom was a football player (center). Tom and commercial insurance broke in Upland, our home town. He was still working and I am retired from several vocations. I was an elementary school librarian while my girls were in elementary school. I then managed a recording studio for several years and then became a graphic designer for a while (paid) and now do it for charitable organizations gratis.
I used to act as often as I could - usually playing character parts such as GrandMaMa in The Addams Family, Ethel in On Golden Pond, Jeanette in "The Full Monty", Miss Hannigan in "Annie" and Mother Superior in "Nunsense" and many, many more... yes, I still sing!
I have three daughters. Katie, age 49, is married, has a masters degree in psychology and her husband Michael, has his Ph.D in physics is working for Northrop Grummon...Expand for more
in their space technologies division. They are living in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
Elizabeth (age 47, graduated in vocal performance) works with children with needs in the schoold district, teaches voice, piano and performing arts at various venues around Southern California. Elizabeth was married to Guillermo (he died of a heart attack August of 2022) and they are have two children, a son that is 10 and a daughter that is 7.
Maggie (44) is an executive assistant to our oldest daughter.. Her husband, Ryan Murphy is a middle school science teacher. They have a 16 year old girl, and her sister who is 13.
I have a great dog, a Goldendoodle, Nick. I would be lost without him and we walk every day 2+ miles.
For all of you that know Mom... Darlene Shriner ... She passed away March 19, 2008 very peacefully. My brother, Hal "Bud" Shriner, passed away in 2006 of cancer and my dad in 2003. I am the only one left of my immediate family.
I would love to hear from any old friends (not saying that we are old)!
