Anna's Story

I have been living in Champion all my life. I started school when I was about to turn six because I didn't turn five till October. I did the afternoon Kindergarten and then transitioned to all day schooling. I remember having to sit with our class at lunch time and playing outside during recess. Some days I would play board games inside. During third grade, I was diagnosed with ADD. When forth grade rolled around, I went into special ed classes. When middle school came about, I had to learn time management and I really had to learn to get to each of my classes on time. The time we had between each class what not enough time for me to get from my locker (which some years was on the other end of the building) to the front of the building in order to get to science class or gym class (where we we're limited on the amount of time to get changed). Fifth grade I had health class and then gym did not start till sixth grade. I remember eating with whoever I wanted and not having recess, but having to walk around outside. When gym started in sixth grade, that was when I got diagnosed with Scoliosis. I also started being bullied which to me did not phase me. Looking back on that, I wish I would of done something instead of going along with it. Bulling happened my whole middle school life. I tried to learn the clarinet for two years but always was last chair so I quit doing that and tried choir which did not end well so I just used it as a study hall. That study hall got the social studies teacher happy in 8th grade (I forget his name, everyone loved him, he now teaches at TCTC). The social studies teacher also had an ice cream party at the end of our middle school career to see if we can eat more ice cream than the previous year. After middle school, I didn't want to go to high school because of the bulling situation so I was home schooled online. My parents took this time to their advantage and had me doing therapy and wearing a back brace for my Scoliosis. Doctor said that I was done growing and so that was why the brace wasn't working quit well. I decided to have surgery and now my back pain is gone. I am still having problems with my back to this day and wonder if I made the right decision. During home school, I was watching TV and saw someone in the show doing Karate. I fell in love with it and decided to go do it myself. The place I found actually does Tae Kwon Do and currently to this day, I am now a red belt. While I was home schooled, my parents and I learned that I could go to TCTC for 11th and 12th grade instead of being home schooled all of high school since I didn't care for it. My love for computers started when I was a toddler and so I decided to do the IT program. While in the IT program, I became apart of Business Professionals of America where I competed and won many 1st and 2nd place trophies during regional and also made it all the way to nationals during 12th grade. Loved meeting other students from other schools and all the students and teacher were nice t...Expand for more
o be with. I highly recommend TCTC because you get a head start in learning your potential career. After TCTC, I went to Kent State to pursue a computer degree and that only lasted me one year because it was becoming difficult. I decided to go the faster route and only do one year at a technical school. I went back to TCTC and the only thing I got out of it was Microsoft Certifications. During the time I was doing TCTC, I was bored and wanted something to do outside of being at home majority of the day and going to school at night. One of my friends was talking online about doing Zumba. I looked into it, fell in love immediately, and did classes. Also during this time, my mom found a group of people my age that I could hang out with and talk with. One of the adults who ran the group had us talking about a certain subject each month. One month was health. I explained that I was doing Tae Kwon Do and Zumba. I also explained that I eat not great, I eat too many cookies and snacks in one day. He explained the reasoning behind it and that I should I hide the snacks. This really striked me and I took a look at what I was eating and decided to eat healthier and do portion control with MyFitnessPal (which I still do to this day). I also started researching and follow people and websites online who specialize in fitness, health, and nutrition. This led to a Facebook AD about a free 12 week fitness program. I decided to do it and I lost 10LB because of it. I also was slowing getting into lifting weights and doing more cardio because the program was daily (I was only doing Zumba twice a day before this program). I then moved only to lifting weights with a 15 day program. After TCTC, I took a couple of years off school to figure out my life and during that time, I decided to do more fitness classes the exercise place had and I was lifting more weights and doing more cardio. I continued researching nutrition and eating healthier thanks to a lady I found online that has you looking at the details of food and not just the nutrition by itself. Because of this lady, I fell in love with nutrition and decided to go back to school and become a Dietetic Nutritionist where I can help others to eat healthier, exercise, and be the best version of themselves. Sept 2017, I started my nutrition degree and am loving it. I am exercising six days a week now and getting stronger to where I can lift 10 LB dumbbells. I am prepping for my black belt which I am hoping to get next year and for that I am doing tons of push-ups, sit-ups, wall-sit, and a 5K (did first one in June). I have a lot of endurance and the only class that is hard for me is P90X which my exercise place got a few months ago. Can't wait to see where life takes me, but right now it is looking good. I am trying to make myself healthier and stronger everyday and helping my parents do the same. Can't wait to help other live healthier and happier lives. Would love to help anyone eat healthier and get an exercise routine for themselves.
