Anna's Story
Life
Let's see, I'm currently engaged to my boyfriend of the past year and a half, Jeremy Lewis. No date has been set and we're still looking for a place of our own. Both of us are tryig to get new jobs, but the pickings are kind of slim... We both go to Lander University right here in Greenwood. I changed my major from Pre-Med and Genetics with an Art History monor to an English and Art major with minors in Music and Philosophy. I'm also goung to try to get a degree in Business, because I have some great ideas and Jeremy and I have already drawn up plans for a business we want to run. Um... of all things, my dad has taken up chicken farming, so we now have lots of chickens running around with the cat and dog. Oddly enough, they all get along well... I'm working on a lot of artwork and writing that I've been meaning to get done for years, so that's making me happy. I'm hoping to open my own gallery one day (or at least exhibit in one) so I've been adding to my portfolio. I'm trying to find a publisher for some of my writing, so if anyone knows of a good literary agent, let me know, okay? With that, I think I've covered everything for now :)
School
I graduated from Greenwood High in 2004. I was involved with the National Art Honor Society (President my senior year) Eagle's View (Assistant Editor in my junior year) Quill and Scroll ( most of my poems got published my senior year) and Mock Trial (went to competition every year but my senior year). I was also active in the Reading Club, Psychology Club, tried to be active with Homecoming, but I guess that wasn't really my thing... I took several AP classes and almost all honors classes. I liked all of my teachers, but I'd have to say that my favorite teacher in high school was my anatomy teacher, Ms. Johnston. I LOVED HER CLASS. Yeah, she was tough, but she was very good at what she did and that was teaching a bunch of high school students who wanted to goof off instead of learn. I can honestly say thats where my love of Anatomy and Physiology came from. I liked all of my teachers and Lord knows, there were some who shouldn't have liked me. I got lazy during my senior year. My sister had her gall bladder removed and suffered head injuries from a freak accident. She spent a lot of time in the hospital and I was worried, so I totally slacked off the last semester. I didn't deserve to graduate, but by the grace of a few caring teachers, I did. (Thank you! You know who you are!) I liked high school, but for a long time, I did what a lot of other people did and pretended to be someone I wasn't. I realized this during my junior year, but I kept the facade up until after i graduated when I met my current fiance, Jeremy. We went through a LOT of stuff together and I guess that all the stress and worry and s...Expand for more
uch broke me down and now I'm the Anna my parents recognize from the past. With Jeremy, we've been through drug and alcohol addictions (him) jealousy (me) deaths (both of our families) and so much more... However, I'm happy to report now that he's completely clean and I've gotten a killer grip on my jealousy. We've both become better people for all the stuff we'd been through in such a short time. I guess that happens when you pit two headstrong people together, no? Anyway, I'm trying to keep up with a lot of people that I knew in high school and it's not easy at all... So, If you went to Greenwood High and know me (or just want to talk to someone familiar with the old alma mater) then send me a message! I'd be glad to talk to anyone!
College
I'm in the middle of my sophomore year at Lander. I changed my major from Pre-Med and Genetics with a minor in Art History to English and Art with minors in Music and Philosophy. I could kick myself for getting so slack, but I'm getting back into the swing of things and I'm hoping for the best. I've made a few new friends and hopefully, everything will be working out fine :-) Jeremy had a major surgery in the beginning of the year to have part of his lung removed, so we've both been trying to catch up and pass.
Workplace
My first job was at Oxford Perfume and Jewelry. I worked there from November 23, 2004 until June 6, 2005. I don't really know what to say about my job... When I started, I had to learn really quickly because of after Thanksgiving sales and the Christmas rush... so I got used to the place being packed and really really busy... but after that holiday rush, business has slumped and I sit on my bum... and I hate it. My boss is pretty nice... quirky but nice. He stood up for me when I needed his support and he's taken me into his family, However, that hasn't made him more generous with the checkbook. I work with a guy named Jade who's also a massage therapist, so that's nice in itself :) Jade is a lot of fun to work with, and so is my boss's wife. She calls to talk to me every day and her son may as well be my baby brother. Zain is such a sweetheart. :D I liked my job, as boring as it was, but I'm also in the market for another job. I'm not making enough to be financially independent from my parents and that bothers me. Jeremy and I want to move out into our own place (which is natural, no?) and we're saving as much as we can to be able to move out.
I also worked for a few months at Action Photography. It was a great job, as long as you were the one behind the camera and I often wasn't. I didn't like the gossipy nature of the group, but I loved the people I worked with. Jeremy and I were having some problems with school and his health, so I quit. I'm currently looking for a job though :-)
