Anne's Story

Now, retired, my husband and I travel on the many air miles racked up when working. We've been to 27 countries-we try to rent a car and take off on our own exploring-however,our next trip- Italy- will challange that. Having been their with my eldest driving to Naples & Pompeii,I found that outside large cities there, English is not spoken much, unlike like Spain or Portugal and other countries we've done our own driving. Driving on the 'wrong' side of the road isn't bad, once you get used to it, and well worth learning so you can meet people one on one . We found our GPS took us all over with no trouble, except that to museums or 'palaces' it took us to the gift shop first, LOL. My eldest daughter went backpacking around the world when she was 30, traveled to Napal, India and 34 other countries- met her Italian husband scuba diving in the Maldives and is now in LA as a Sr. VP for HBO Films and will give us our first grand daughter in July. We now have our grandaughter, India, who will be 2 soon and a new baby sister due in July. My younger daughter travels as well, South Korea, Italy, Thialand and France, but is also busy as a technical writer and other tech things for an intermnational software company and raising our 6 year old amazing soccer player grand son. Max is now 7, adjusted well to the divorce, and has become an amazing baseball player as well. I was only in MHS one semester before graduating, so am amazed if anyone remembers me at all! I see names that are familiar but can't always place the faces. I left to go to school, married and never came back except to visit my family. My father was the manager of the Woolworth store-Clyde Mason worked for him for a time! My sister Sally Bayless still lives in M'boro and one of her daughter teaches math in the schools there. Her other daughter is in radiology and her son is a nurse. My best friend...I met her in Chicago, we were both staying in an really weird hotel for ladies until we could find an appartment. At the time, we both had the last name of Miller, and we decided we were the only two sane women in the place and decided to room together when we found a place to rent. She was a real support when I was told my mom had developed Alzheimers at age 53-when few even knew what it was-this was the mid 60's. She became the Godmother to my daughters and although she lives in California and I live in the Midwest, we visit each other regularly to this day, almost 45 years later! Since I moved around a lot growing up and changed schools frequently, I never grew up with a 'best friend'.. Claire has made up for all those empty years with her friendship, being at my wedding...Expand for more
in Chicago and I was at hers in Nashvile. We have watched our children grow up together to become wonderful adults we have encouraged each other in our dreams and travels. Even my husband likes her and her husband was a dear. Great news-Jenni and Anto have given us a new grand daughter, India Rose. Daughter Jenni is doing well and husband Antonino is exstactic ! India is a beautiful girl, named after the ocean her parents met on and then vacationed back to several years later where she was concieved. Jenni- a Sr. V.P at HBO over production of made for t.v. movies, has two of her films up for Ememy's this year. One is " Temple Grandin -Thinking in Pictures"- all of you teachers/nurses should see this one, as it is about Temple, an Apsperger's (a type of Autism) syndrom adult who is a Ph.D in Colorado and traveled all over not only about Autism, but has totaly changed slaughter houses and feedlots with her animal husbandry studies.. The other film is "You Don't Know Jack!" a movie that makes you think about how you would like your life to end if faced by very difficult choices. We are keeping our fingers crossed for her to 'win'. This is her 4th year for Emmy nominations. Last year it was for 'Taking Chance". and several years before it was " The Laramie Project" as well as several other films. UPDATE: Thinking in Pictures won 7 Emmys, as did the star. While on stage, accepting the award for producers, Jenni was referred to as "their Angel, Jenni Sherwood"....which was a first, as those at HBO usually don't get thanked in person on stage for bringing about the movie. I thought her dad would fall off onto the floor! He had been taping the Emmys and we watched it again at least 8 times before we went to bed. UPDATE: Jen is now Sr.V.P. over made for T.V. Movies! UPDATE: 5.15.11 New Great Movie on HBO my daughter brought to them is now showing-"TOO BIG TO FAIL". If you want to know what happened on Wall Street, The major Banks that caused the bailouts and the mess we are still in, be sure to see this movie! Greatly explains 'derivitives', how the whole mess was 'insured' so it didn't matter to the banks if the loans were good or not, they weren't going to lose (hedging their bets)...and how this was done world wide and why so many countries were affected. I read the book last Fall, and Sorkin really had checked out the facts and had pages of where his information came from in the back that can be checked out. Another movie in the works is "Game Change" based on the book - the inside story of the last presidential election. Great News! HBO is releasing Jen's new movie "Game Change" begins March 10th.......
