Anne's Story
After I graduated from Cooley High in Detroit, I attended Olivet College for two years and transferred to Western Michigan in 1957. I graduated in 1959 and spent a year in Newark, New Jersey doing social work at an Episcopal Church sponsored Foster Home.
I also spent a year in Vermnot working for the Episcopal Church.
I moved to Berkeley, CA in 1962 to attend graduate school in Christian Ed. I met my future husband, a seminarian at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley. I spent one year in school and then married John Scates in 1963. We had two children, Samuel and Stephen.
After 19 years of marriage I divorced my husband, and moved to an apartment in downtown San Francisco.
At this time I was working for The District Attorney of S.F. collecting child sdupport.

My younger son Sam died of a drug overdose in 2000. I don't think a day passes that I don't think of him and his struggles with drugs.
My oldest son, served in the Army and saw action in Panama. He now lives in Portland, OR and my stepdaughter, Roxanne lives in Sacrmento.
We have lived in many different cities in California, but most recently lived for six years in Allentown, PA. My husband retired from the semiconductor industry in 2009, and we moved to Talent, Oregon which is outside of Ashland , in the beautiful Rogue River Valley of Southern OR. My profile photo is of me and my son Stephen, a Graphics Designer with a firm in Portland. We are enjoying retirement in Oregon and active in the local Episcopal Church, Trinity. We love the theater, and opera, films and excerise.
