Anne's Story
Life
My maiden name was Anne Hundley. I attended Scottwood Elem., Johnson Park Junior High and Eastmoor High School,and finished highschool at Big Walnut where I met my husband. Growing uo in columbus, My family lived on Kirkbridge Court in Haviland Housing Project (between Courtright Road and Zettler Road) I always had a pool membership to Berwick Beach where I loved spending my summers.(I had one sister, Marsha Hundley).My family moved from Columbus (after I finished my sophmore year at Eastmoor High School), to Sunbury, Ohio. I DID NOT attend Walnut Ridge High School, but have added the school, because just one street seperated me from many friends. Most of mine went to Walnut Ridge!
When I was 15 years old my family moved to Sunbury, Ohio, and I attended/graduated from Big Wlanut Highschool in 1972. I met my future husband (Gary Piper) there and we married young (1971), I was 16.(At the end of our junior year, as I was expecting our child! oops!)
We continued in the Piper families' farming business and started farming with just 200 acres. We now farm 5,000 acres. We have 3 adult/married children. Rebbecca (Becky) Irene (our oldest-36)who is married to her childhood sweetheart Paul Stephens(37) and they have 5 children ,Storm Josiah(15), Shiloh Christian(14),Mariah Shannon(10),Paul Anthony(8), and Zoe' Grace (4). Our second daughter, LeighAnne (32) is married to Tommy Marcum(36) and they have 4 children,Thomas David (12),Victoria Grace (9),Madalynne Anne (6) and Christian Lee (2). Our youngest is our son, Brett Allan (29) who is married to Kelly (McPherson)(30)and they have Patrick William (4) and Alexis Lynn (2). -They are expecting another baby in June!!
With 11 grandchildren and owning two businesses (we farm and raise 6,000 hogs, and our son(he owns one of the hobarns and raises 3,000 of the hogs)- works with us), we have a very full, busy and exciting life. Our family is very close and we do everything together. (holidays & vacations-church-dinners, etc)
Gary and I lived on the family farm for the first 31 years of our married life. We built our first home there, where we raised our 3 children. We sold that home to...Expand for more
our 2nd. daughter, Leighanne and her husband, Tommy, 5 years ago and built a new (and smaller!)ranch home on one of our farms in Centerburg, Ohio. (But, because we had 5 new grandchildren after we moved, we had to finish off 1/2 of the basement for a family room. Our family kept growing!) And we love it here!
Gary and I take yearly cruises (or vacations in the sun) in the winter, we attend the Vineyard Church of Johnstown. I love dogs (outside) and have always had German Sheperds, until now.
I teach dance (sometimes!), but have owned several of my own businesses in the past, but now just help my husband and family. My husband loves to hunt and spend time with our grandchildren.(when he isn't working 16 hour days!!)
My parents divorced in 1975, and both remarried. My dad and his wife live in Mt. Vernon and my mother (who is now widowed and a bladder-cancer survior) lives in Johnstown. We live just 15 minutes from them all (including our children.) My parents get along well, and attend all the holidays with us here at our home.
Gary and I are active in church and have been for about 23 years. My husband serves as an elder at our church.
LIFE HAS MANY CROSSROADS AND TAKE SHARP CURVES!
I had kept up with only one of my old friends from Columbus. Her name was Barbara Boso (Garriott). Barb. passed away in an auto accident a few years ago.
Since I was in so many different schools, it has been hard to keep track of classmates. It has almost been 40 years since I left Columbus school district. Hard to believe it has been so long! Life is too short.
I have joined Classmates to find some long lost friends and be able to touch base with them hopefully. As I have shared my life with you, I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Some of my old friends that I am looking for are: Laura Buyers, Rose Fleitcher, Ellen Dietch, Dianne Baker, Julie Leslie, Martha Hunley, Bob Freeman, Mark Davenport,Everett (Duke) Young, Lisa Smith, and Teri Searles to name a few!
Hopefully, my "before" and "after" photos may help jog some memories about who I used to be and how I looked way back then!
