Annette's Story
Life
My Spouse
In 1960, as I was riding the elevator up to another floor of the library at UC Berkeley, staggering under a load of heavy textbooks, this good looking, but somewhat nerdy guy offered to help me carry them. His name was Edwin Wilson, he was a forestry student, and I married him four years later!
My Pets
Rollo - Tri Pembroke Welsh Corgi "fluff" who specializes in agility competitions, Squeegee, his mom, a redhead, who is a retired show dog, and assorted Barn Cats whose job is not to have kittens, but chase mice, gophers and other pesky varmints. Fast forward 10 years...Well, Rollo and Squeegee died and the coyotes ate all the barn cats, so we are down to one dog, Ellie the Corgi who is as old as I am in people years! Getting a kitten soon, but it will have to be an indoor cat, both because of the coyotes and because I love wildlife.
My Kids
More fast forward to 2024....Stewart, (1979) Professor of Soil Science at Cal Poly SLO; Justin (1972), Sound technician at Smiley's in Bolinas; Eric, 1970, Fine artist and now has a science degree in Fisheries; Bryan, 1967, Finish carpenter, and now contractor Healdsburg.
I now have 2 grandchildren, Charlotte, age 15 in 2024, and Lachlan, 9 in 2024.
School
Believe it or no...Expand for more
t, Miss Vranna has turned out to be one of my favorite teachers. Not because she was sweet and nice, but I appreciated her intellect and she taught me much more than Spanish. And she was just the right kind of weird! It was many years before I really appreciated her and realized her old-fashioned standards were necessary for true learning. They now make movies about people like her. Women who make their own way in spite of everything and open their students' eyes. I wish there were more like her.
Workplace
I'm currently an architectural designer, specializing in kitchens. Went back to UC for a certificate in interior architecture and design a number of years ago. Best thing I ever did for myself! I don't think I'll ever retire. I own my own business, "Cucina Cadosi", and have done very well.
I'm also still doing a lot of writing, but the novel I have been writing has been on hold forever while I've been building my business. One needs to make time for these things. Look for it to be out in the next century! I won't be at the book signing, though. Fast forward....Actually, now (2024) I AM working on a couple of novels and have published several articles in our local magazine over the last several years. Never bored!
