Anthony's Story

Life What's up everyone? I'm doing alright. After High School I went to work in the Graphic-Arts Printing field. In '89 I also graduated from Northeast Career Center with a two-year certificate in Graphic Arts Printing (Offset Printing, Layout & Design, Photography, etc). I left the field upon realizing that I could no longer tolerate being around the toxic chemicals. In 1992 went to work in retail and at the same time joined the Ohio Army National Guard (1995) and later left both in my quest for a much greater challenge for the U.S. Army in 1997. I got to see a lot of places....Germany (5 years), Iraq (15-18 months), Kuwait (3 times), Saudi Arabia (2 times-- a total of 12 months combined), Kosovo (formerly Yougoslavia, for 6 months), Fort Bliss (El Paso,TX for 4 years), Fort Irwin (Barstow,CA for 15-30 days), Basic Training at BOTH Fort Knox,KY and Fort Jackson,S.C. .....(we trainees, had to wait for the "training cycle" to open )--June-October 1995, U.S.Army Ordinance School at Aberdeen Proving Grounds,Aberdeen Maryland in October 1995- April 1996. I think that's all of the duty stations...if not I'll edit this and post them. I've been out of the Army since early 2005 on injuries. Back in 2001 I did get to complete an education in Computer Science from the University of Maryland at Europe. Since the Army, I've worked recently as a contractor for a government contracted company at Fort Lewis,(Tacoma, Washington) as a technician--doing the same job that I did in the Military. I've recently transfered from the International Academy of Design Technology (or IADT--Seattle,WA) to Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma majoring in Graphic Design/Visual Communications. I've had a lot of contractor companies making me monetary offers from $86,000 tax-free to $110,000 also tax-free to return to Iraq as a civilian contractor. I have'nt accepted yet.I'm still single, I have'nt done the "wife 'n' kids" thing yet but would like to. But I try to continue to thank God for "life, love, and song" everyday. Feel free to send me an email through this website. Thanks, peace y'all. My heroes are Jesus Christ, Dr. Martin Luther King,my Mother, both Grandmothers,Harriet Tubman,Fredrick Douglass to name a few.I've recently "settled" part of my claim against the Veterans Administration in November '08 and I'm waiting for back due compensation. I'm expecting another victory in this on-going case which should be resolved in December '08 or January '09. I always wanted to be a an artist or designer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. I play video games, sometimes I use prayer as,other times I read science- fiction books, I go to the gym to workout,I listen to muscians like Minnie R...Expand for more
iperton,Ronnie Laws,Isley Brothers,Heatwave and others. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have good music, a computer, and something to drink that will not only hydrate me but replenish nutrients to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Jesus Christ,my Mom,Dr.Martin Luther King,Malcolm X,Harriet ubman,Sojourner Truth,Barrack Obama,Oprah Winfrey,Bill Cosby,Chris Gardner,Rosa Parks,CorrettaScott King, both of my grandmothers,my late uncle Bennie Rogers and many others. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is I have so many that they are too numerous I have many, because they are too numerous to list. Trying to improve my relationship with Jesus Christ,Computers,Internet, reading sci-fi books, music by musicians who play and sing from the heart. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to worth-while organizations that actually help people, then spend the rest on family, start a graphic design business and keep some for myself. No, but I've lived in many military barracks. My current age is 39. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be on a high pedestal. I was so completely wrong. I will own my very own Graphic Design Company.I'm even willing to invest some of my back-due monetary compensation from the Veterans Administration -that's still owed to me.As well as take out a V.A. business loan. After all those military years,my health is no longer what it used to be and I want to go into a field that won't be hard on my body.I'm getting closer to being 100% disabled. My best friend would tell you I'm quiet and withdrawn, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as outgoing and sociable. I stand 6 feet 1 and I have to pay more for my clothes because of my size and lack of availability for my size. Everything has to be big and tall.I talk differently because of my education. I share my home with myself, which I find pretty much a desolate place. I have no trophies. In 10 years, I hope to be very successful in many ways. I'm going to get there by learning all that I can, absorbing all that I can, much prayer, and persistance. I've known Danny since the mid 1970s.He is my oldest brothers' best friend and he became a friend to myself and as well as my other two brothers.I click with Danny because he too is into creating music as well as being a fan of music from others. My first job was at McDonald's, where I got paid between $3.25-$4.00 per hour to prepare fast food. What I remember most about it is it was my first job and also the power play between managers.. It's hard to pick just one but,I'll never forget relocating to annew neighborhood and trying to adjust to a new set of friends and missing the old friends. It took me a while to get used to that.
