Anthony's Story
Life
Anthony Tusler is a writer, consultant, trainer, and advocate on disability issues. He was the founding Director of the Disability Resource Center at Sonoma State University. He was a founder of the Institute on Alcohol, Drugs and Disability and served as President of the Board. He was a co-founder of the independent living center, Community Resources for Independence (CRI) in Sonoma County..
He has served on numerous national boards and advisory committees for federal agencies and national groups such as the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Society for Disability Studies and State of California Rehabilitation Council. His expertise includes management of Workers' Compensation, Risk Management, and Alcohol, Drugs, and AIDS Education Programs He has developed curricula and taught courses and workshops on Disability in America and on disability, identity and culture, and technology.
Mr. Tusler is the principle of his consulting firm in Northern California. His current book is ÂÂHow to Create Disability Access to Technology: Best Practices in Electronic and Information Technology Companies, published by The World Institute on Disability. The book documents how to improve disability access to technology products and services. He created The New Paradigm of Disability Bibliography, a resource of key disability publications and media, located on his website AboutDisability. He is a wheelchair user.
