April's Story

Hi everone! Since leaving school (a year too early) I got married, had a baby and moved to Tahoe to be close to my family. After divorce and remarraige, I had my 2nd daughter and ANOTHER divorce! I really thought this wasn't going to work for me. LOL I married Don Oct. 17, 1996 at our church, St. Nicholas in Tahoe City. No more kids! Not from my body anyway! Although Don has 3 boys (ages 3,4, and 5) when I met him! There was a little hesitation there on my part. LOL Their now 17, 19 and 20.What can I say but....YEA!!!! Now we have 7 GRANDKIDS! I had owned and operated a nail shop for about 16 years in Tahoe City and Truckee. Then we sold our home in truckee and moved down to Alta. Not a big move, only 45 miles west.We bought 12 acres in the forest, with a main house and a smaller guest house. We still get snow, just not as much as Tahoe. earned my CAS, Certified Avian Specialist. I run a small aviary, mostly Green Cheek Conures, Blue Crown Conures, Moustash Parrots and Timnah Grays (a sub species of the African Gray Parrot.) I also have many, yes many pet birds.I have 1 Scarlet Macaw, 2 Greenwing Macaws I raised from little tiny babies. 2 Grays, 1 I raised. a Blue Front Amazon and a Lilac Crown Amazon both I raised. A Goffin Cockatoo I finished raising.a Myers, 3 Green Cheeks and a left over Blue Crown baby(the store only wanted 2) that has bonded with me.Awe! My husband is a general contractor and is contracted by the banks to do REO's and also he rehabs forclousers. So, to everyone who knew me in school, I turned out okay. Through lifes lessons and a few stumbles, I did this all without parental supervision or support. Yea, I even have a good sense of humor!Okay that didn't kick in until I was around 20. LOL
