April's Story

Life I don't know how funny I've become but I do still have a sense of humor. I still love to laugh and I still smile all the time. I have 4 beautiful children, 3 dogs and 2 cats & 2 kittens. My children are 1 boy (or should I say young man 24) and 3 girls (22, 16 & 13). We have been living in GA for the past 14 years. I do miss home very much. I moved here to try to start a new life for my children. My son is driving trucks OTR. My oldest daughter is in college. My middle daughter is in high school and my youngest is in middle school. I found that it's a BIG difference here in Ga. It's a little slower with some things but other things are not. I'm not too crazy about this place but I'm also not ready to leave and go back to NY just yet. Other than that, I'm still the same. I still love to drive. Here in GA you really have no other choice. They don't have the type of transportation to get you around like NY. That's one of the things I miss the most. If I didn't feel like driving in NY, I didn't have to. Where I live now you have to have either 1 of 4 things. 1. A DAMN good running car! 2. Or a friend with a DAMN good car. 3. Or two strong legs, good health & good health insurance (IT'S HOT AS HELL DOWN HERE!!!). 4. Or last but not least, CHILDREN that has any of the above 3. LOL I still remember alot of the cheers I did when I was on the cheerleading squad from back in '79 & '80. One of my daughters has that same talent, only she's on a step team at her school. I love keeping in touch with old friends and finding out what they've been up to (that's for the ones that actually remember me). I've been on here since Feb. 2002 and only spoke to a few people that I used to know one way or the other. I'm not very good with all of the names but I sure do remember the faces. I was very surprised to see some of the people I believe I may have known back in the day, actually look at my page. But then if I send them a note, they act as if...I'm going to leave that alone. I feel like we're ALL older and hope...Expand for more
fully wiser with more maturity. We have ALL grown to realize that life is too short to hold onto old grudges. I know that I have had to let go of a lot of past hurts in order to move forward in my life. But there are things that I look at in my past I have to hold onto. Some of things I miss; being able to go to the Armory, the Q club, Green acres Mall, ALL of the many different dance clubs in Jamacia, Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium in the boogie down BRONX (I LOVED the GRAND CONCOURSE off the D train), Coney Island (especially the BEACH-damn seagulls), Far Rock Away Beach, Rye Beach, Adventures Inn, Six Flags & the Safari off that long A** Turnpike, dirty dogs, Gyros, Mr. Softee, Good Humor man, hero sandwiches (ham & cheese), hot pastromi on soft rye with mustard, VIP Pizza and etc. I mainly miss; ALL OF BROOKLYN such as-Pennsylvania Ave, Atlantic Ave, Prospect park), BRONX such as-The Concourse, Jerome, Tremont, 165th, MANHATTAN such as the uptown & downtown, Greenwich Village (freaky) & Times Square, QUEENS such as-Jamacia Ave, Queens Village, Hollis, Laurelton, South Side, Bayside, Flushing, NASSAU such as-Manhassett, Great Neck, Freeport-LONG ISLAND, Westbury!!! ALL of that going backwards, man that makes me smile. Double dutch, straight rope, hop scotch, see saw, tops, chinese jump rope, hot potato, tag, freeze tag, RCK (run catch & kiss), 7 minutes in heaven, basement parties was .25 to get in with an invite on an index card-Always & Forever was the last song and grind of the night before going into the light to see who you've been dancing with ALL night long!!! LMAO. Tell me have I brought back any memories? Do your CHILDREN know what YOU did back in the days? Do they even have HALF as much fun as you did when you were their age? If you want to talk about some old school times (like when some of the Black Panthers came to P.S.31 Q to pick up a couple of the younger siblings). Or anything else you may remember that makes you miss the good ole days, leave a message and I'll return the favor.
