Arlecha's Story
Life- Has been crazy…..I thought it was time to update this profile as my classmates and I are planning our 40th High School Reunion……seriously, how did we get to be old? The last time I updated my profile was back in 2007, seems like an eternity ago.
I am no longer a preschool teacher but rather a Training & Curriculum Specialist, still with the Department of Defense (Space Force/Air Force). I have traveled the world with my career and lived in Germany for the second time from 2012-2015. I returned back to Colorado in Feb. 2015 and have been here ever since. I am closer and closer to retirement and in the next couple of years will make my decision. I have been reunited with my step-daughter (I hate saying step) and we are closer than ever. She has blessed me with a grandson and they live in the Kansas City area. I try to visit as much as I possibly can. I am a fur mama to Mac (yellow lab), Eva (black lab), Shady (black cat), and Skippy (tuxedo cat). They keep me busy as well as my travels back to Nebraska and to Wichita to visit family. I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping, going to Lake McConaughy, and working on my crafts/sign business.
School
Wow! Haven't thought about this question for a very long time......who was my biggest crush? H...Expand for more
ard to say, I know that it was definitely an upper classman and he played football. That is all I am going to say about that. All I know is that he was the man I wanted to marry.
The teacher that inspired me the most in high school was Mrs. Cummings, she taught Human Development and Adult Living. She was the one teacher that understood me in a time in my life that was the most difficult and unbearable. Coming from a home that was not only broken, but had many challenges, alcoholism and domestic violence, she believed in me and helped me overcome these situations that I had absolutely no control over. My faith in God helped me survive this time and her faith in me as a person helped me learn from someone else's mistakes and how not to repeat them. Thank you Mrs. Cummings you were definitely an awesome teacher to those that you taught. I think you were the one person that made me even consider becoming a teacher.
College
I absolutely loved being a student. I finished my BA in Child Development, summa cum laude (‘06) and my MA in Human Service-Family Life Education (‘09), I guess I am a late bloomer and it took me awhile to find my path. I am truly passionate about what I do for a living and earning my degrees have provided me these opportunities.
