Arlene's Story

Hi! I am a high school drop out. I dropped out of Doherty in '84 (I should have graduated in '85), took my GED and went to York college (in Nebraska) that fall, at 17 (with a full ride scholarship). I got married to Arthur Miller in June '85 (we are still married to each other) and we lived in York for the next three years, then moved to Lincoln, NE, Grand Island, NE, and back to Lincoln. During that time, I finished up my BA at the University of Nebraska (graduated in '91) while working - mostly full-time- and Arthur got part way through his degree in Civil Engineeering. I worked at Lincoln Goodyear Credit Union after I graduated and was there when Ro...Expand for more
ger Bjorkland and Scott Barney robbed it (they were later convicted in the murder of Candy Harms), so I had the, umm, adrenaline rush of having a loaded gun pointed in my face in 92 (pretty exciting). Arthur and I had our first baby, Veronica, in 94 and decided that kids were a good thing, after all. We moved to Colorado in 96, John came in 97, Vivian in 99, Victoria in 01, Valaesha was 03, Vonya 05 and the baby, James, was born last year. Arthur is now a registered professional engineer. He works in transportation, primarily roadway design. I stay home and homeschool (yeah, right, like homeschoolers ever stay home...). We still live in the Denver area.
