Arlene's Story

Life At this moment I am living in Atlanta, Georgia with my husband of twelve years, Brent, and three black kitties named Sabena, Salem and Oskar. In a nutshell, I play and teach music for a living. After my family left Brooklyn (which broke my heart) for Florida, I began playing, of all things, THE TRUMPET. I have been playing for almost 25 years now. It has taken me all over...some nice places and some not so nice. :-) I just returned from a two-year stint overseas (Belgium and Netherlands) and loved it. My Brooklyn days were my best days. I am a Brooklyn girl at heart and that will never fade. I have been dying to play "skelly". It is funny to watch people's faces when I try to explain the game that so many of us spent our summer days playing. I hope to hear from my friends of long ago. Anyone remember "Spumoni Gardens"? hird grade). My biggest crush was Anthony Tate - he moved to Long Island and it broke my heart. My best friends were Eileen Johnson and Helen Accomando. There was a girl named "Jody" that was my pal as well. She lived two floors below me in my building and had a younger sister named "Deena". I cannot remember her last name, but I would love to talk to her again. My days in middle and high school were wonderful because of band. Music was, and still is, my world....I was the ultimate band geek. LOL! Music is still my life force...but I also enjoy yoga, all art and cultural study, nature, teaching, gardening, my cats, reading and writing.....and some cooking when the mood strikes me. :-) College I attended FSU from 1984-86 I attended Univ. of Louisville 1986-88 I attended GSU from 1993-94 I attended Eastman School of Music 1994-96 and graduated with a "Master's in Music Performance and Literature" degree with a minor in Music History.
