Arlene's Story
Life
Hello Friends out there. Yes, I am still among the living even after over 30 plus surgeries. The Lord is not ready for Arlene.
My crutches slipped in the rain on July 22, 1998 and when I fell I landed on my right arm fracturing the humerus bone (between elbow and shoulder). There have been four surgeries with bone grafts but it still has not healed.
I had to close Arlene's Balloons as I could not lift the steel ramp my wonderful talented husband built into my delivery van. So I am at home trying to find a way to earn some money with my computer I got last year.
Whatever comes your way do not give up or quit as God did not promise us Rose Gardens but did give us faith, strength, fortitude to persevere anything that comes along.
So, as I say to others "Hang In There, the Lord still has work for us to do."

School
My family came to Wichita in 1948 &
I enrolled in the second half of
4th grade at Franklin Elementary.
Then I went to Allison until the
middle of 8th & transfered to Mead
Intermediate.
I attended three years at Wichita
West High and graduated in 195...Expand for more
7.
I attended Manhattan Christian
College one year 1958-59. I have
taken classes at WSU and Friends U.
College
After teaching at a youth church camp the summer of 1958 I went to Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Ks & was given a partial scholarship. I worked in the cafeteria helping to prepare meals and doing dishes to earn money. I also did a lot of baby-sitting for officers at Fort Riley on weekends, did housework & ironing to earn needed income. I intended to finish but was in a fatal car accident the summer of 59and my father was killed & I had fractures in my left leg & foot. So I had to get a job & pay for medical expenses.
Workplace
I worked at St.Francis in the
Medical Records Department from
1960-63. It was very interesting
but pay was low but I had medical
insurance.
I worked at Yingling Chevrolet Co
from Aug 63-66 in the Service Dept
as secretary doing mainly warranty
claims.
I worked in LaCrosse,KS where I met
my husband John. The winters are
terrible. Came back to Wichita &
worked doing warranty claims for
several years.
