Arnold's Story
Left Radisson in 1968, my dad Rev. Roman Alksne took a pastoral call to Rhein, SK. Finished high school at Yorkton Regional High, was accepted into teachers college U. Of Manitoba, but did not attend. Took a job with Gov't. of Manitoba, Land Acquisition Br. Met my future wife (Norma Hancock) at Christ Lutheran Church, Rhein, SK. youth group. We went to same high school as well. We were married in Rhein, by my father. We moved to Winnipeg, MN. I attended Red River Community College, and got my certification as architectural draftsman. I changed fields slightly and branched into cartographic drafting (map making) and became a photo mosaic technician. In 1975 my job took me to Edmonton, AB. where IN worked mapping the Tar Sands project. yn. I worked for an aerial survey company for 23 years. In 1992 I returned to university to prepare to go into the Lutheran Church ministry, and studied 4 years in Saskatoon, U of S Lutheran Theological Seminary. I did 1 year of internship in Calgary, AB. I graduated in 1999, I took my first call to ministry to New Sarepta, AB. serving there for 5 1/2 years. In 2004 I accepted a pastoral call to serve at St. John Lutheran Church, were I am presently the minister. This past May I lost my dear wife, of 42 years, to cancer. My son Jason & wife Christi and three children live in Calgary, AB. And my daughter Jocelyn & husband and two children live in Naicam, SK.
I am avid fly fisherman and love to chase the cutthroat trout around the rivers and streams of the Rocky Mountains.
I am also a model railroader studying CPR history, and modeling the same.
